I think so. Don't quote me on that, though.

Am I the only one that thinks the new Mustang looks like crap? It's like they said "I don't feel much like working today Larry, let's copy that old Mustang's look and call it retro."

The media pics are of the production car. The first one was the Auto Show model.

uh oh...this does not look good
Maybe the first one is the concept. *putting my checkbook back in the drawer*

The first pic posted is basically the same thing, they just changed some body panels (hood, front bumper, door and side panels, rear side window covers, and rims)

I'm sure that within a year of the car being on the road, you'll be able to get the parts and make the car look like that yourself.

I'd rather have a GTO.

I don't see any shame in it. I mean, it's not as though you like a Chrysler or a GM.

Yeah, making it look like one of the most widely loved, most widely recognized, and most beautiful cars ever was a terrible idea.

Reminds me of the old muscle cars

I have to post in this thread, being a Ford fanboy and all. I have had the pleasure of driving three prototype Mustangs and two pre-production models, base V6 and V8 GT. All I can say are they driven better than they look. This is going to be the car that puts Ford back in the performance car market. We are taking about a car that puts out 300hp, solid rear axle, and starts out a $25K. This car will own everything in its class.

I also had the opportunity to drive the pre-production 2006 Mustang Cobra R model. Sorry guys no pictures were allowed. It looks slightly different than the Auto Show display car, less rice looking. But oh boy does that car move and handle like a racecar.

I have owned and built several dozen Mustang & other Ford Muscle cars over the years I would rate the New 2005 Mustang GT like this.

1) 1969-1970 Mustang Boss 429
2) 1969 Mustang Mach1 428SCJ
3) 1969-1970 Mustang Boss 302
4) 2005 Mustang GT
5) 1971 Mustang Boss 351

I left out the Shelby & Cobra Mustangs because they are in a class of their own.

I wish they had gone to an IRS instead of keeping the live axle. Looks great though.

It's a good looking car, I'll give it that much. Although, the lines in the rear stand out to me for some reason. The front end looks real nice though.

I still wouldn't ever spend my own money on a Ford, though.

I think you need to take your meds for the day!! :Q

New GTO > New Mustang

5.7L LS1 350hp > 4.6L 300hp

I like both, but the GTO appears to be a much nicer car, too bad its much more expensive, and aren't really even in the same class.

A-V, those are concept pics. I personally don't like the concept; the production version looks much better

Uhh...no. The first pic is the Concept at the show. The pics AV showed are the production unfortunately.

The Base and GT are keeping the Live rear axel to keep prices/costs down.....the Cobra *may possibly* get the IRS.

Am I the only lifelong Mustang guy who HATES the new 2005's? I'd take a foxbody or the SN95 over this any day. If you weren't a real big fan of the older Mustang's, which I'm not really, then this car is just another retro looking POS. It reminds me of the crappy looking new T-Bird. Granted, I haven't seen one in person yet, but...eh.

*shrug*
