people are getting 03 330i under invoice now. the dealer has a $2500 incentive. i am looking for a 03 330i zhp to replace my 01 330ci. early 01 330ci (before march production) have the new light steering and a lot of people are complaining about it.

G35, yuck, hideous cars. Stay with the 330ci.

With 30K, there are MANY options out there. The G35 coupe is nice, but don't go for the sedan. I would also consider a Nissan 350Z for that amount.

For 30k, I'd stretch a bit and get a 2004 Honda S2000......and I'm coming from a 2001 330ci

Offer to go to the bank with the seller to close the deal. Then you get paperwork immediately, and you know the car is yours...

Disagree! I love my G35 sedan. It rocks. I like the way it looks. I love the handling and fun of rear wheel drive. I can strap my two kids in the back and feel comfortably in control when they scream "drive faster daddy!". And it will be a great platform for modding in the future since the VQ35 engine is in a LOT of Nissan/Infiniti cars and the entire FM platform is shared by the 350Z, G35 Coupe and G35 Sedan. And as for the S2000 comment, let's keep this way off topic conversation on topic! Rear wheel drive sport coupe/sedans similar to a BMW 330. I guess a G35 Sedan isn't really comparable, it's bigger than a 5 series and faster than a 3 series(excluding the much more expensive M series) ;-) (I will totally concede the BMW manumatic shifter is superior, even the one on the 330). Comparing cars is a very complex and subjective process - I'm not claiming a G35 is better than any other car (except for me and my $27K), but I would suggest someone looking at a non-M 3 series take a G35 for a test drive.

Go here to find a forum for G35 owners - most of whom love the car. Lots of comments about similar cars and acknowledgement that the M series is the benchmark car:

http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=UBB25

And if $30K is too rich for you, you might be able to find a non-leather G35 Sedan for $27K, brand spanking new. And once you decide to buy a G35, get it from Grubbs Infiniti (I wish I had) and they'll ship it to you anywhere in the US and probably still have the best price.

absolutley do not give him money if you do not get a title. Also make sur eyou have the car checked bya mechanic YOU pick before you buy the car. If he wont agree to this, then dont buy it because he is trying to scam you

i personally still love the m3... but the new 5 series could bump the m3 down to 'second favorite car' on my list

If you're in the bay area, why don't you just go up to Oregon and buy it there? No sales tax. That'll save you a few grand right there.

And how will he register it in Cali? They will jack him for the Use tax as soon as the transaction hits the books won't they? Plus Out of State Registration at about $1000
--------------------------

No Title?

It's a scam, you will be out minimum $5k and max all $30k. If you insist to go to he bank, he will probably pull out a gun when you show up to go to the bank and rob you of the $5k he KNOWS you have in your pocket. ANYONE who is selling a car knows they have to get the Title before trying to sell it.

Get the license number and VIN right now. You can get a Carfax for $25 and find out a lot of things about this car you never knew. Like if it is really in new condition and if it is a lease. Possibly which bank owns it.

No Vin? No Car Fax! Definite Scam.

How about helping this guy instead of "My car is better than that one you should buy what I bought!" which was not his question

The S2000 is tight too along with Honda's reliability rating. SO, G35 coupe, 350Z or S2000. OH yeah, S2000 is an LEV vehicle with great gas mileage. But they just passed the tripling of the car tax in California. Good thing I paid before Wednesday.

Spoke to the seller on the phone today, and he gave me the bank lender information.
I guess he did it through BMW Financial Services, the bank name is FSRI 1800-578-5000, I got his Account number too.
He told me that he spoke to the lender and they said to have me send a cashier check for the amount that he owed and they will send me the title of the car. And once I get the title, he will sign me on to it, pay the difference ($25k-amount that he loaned) and I get his car keys.

I called and verified his information with the number that he provided, and spoke to the rep, to make sure the procedure was correct and it is.

So is this good enough information for me to proceed forward? I'm going to mail the cashier check via Fed Ex next day.

BTW, how does Cashier Check works? it's as good as cash right? I have 15k in cash and 10k in the bank account. Are there any tax issues? will the IRS question/know how all in the sudden i got 15k in cash? (my parents loaned me the money, straight out of the deposit box) Is there any type of protection I can get? besides the Fed Ex insurance/tracking.

After all thats been written here, all I can say is, better you than I doing this.

Seems to me, and if it were me I would have visited the DMV and found out for sure by now, that three things are essential.

Title
Bill of Sale
Transfer of registration

The trick, or hard part is how to do all three at the same time. Good luck
