1994 Lexus GS300, green/tan leather, fully loaded, sunroof, 144k miles. $4900

vs. a 1994 Toyota Camry with less miles, less features, similar price.

I know maintenance wise the costs would be the same on these two cars (spark plugs/wires, oil, tires, etc), but what about other things?

Let's say a power window dies... would one cost more than the other? Belts? Please advise.

I wondered that myself, so bump for you.

BTW, is the 94 camry a v6? I think the Lexus it was standard...

Definitely parts should be less on the lexus than on the camry, not to mention its had more miles in it. Given its stature arguably it would have been taken better care of, but I'd rather go to toyota than lexus if I needed to get something fixed.

it's going to be the same, Lexus/Toyota, Infinity/Nissan....within those two groups almost everything but the trim is the same really.

Unless the mileage is A LOT less I'd got with a Lexus for the luxury at the same price.

Technically speaking, it should cost the same. But, a mechanic might try to pull a fast one on you since a GS 300 is technically speaking a "luxury" vehicle compared to a Camry. Also, make sure to inquire about insurance costs. Otherwise, you will not go wrong with either vehicle.

Does the GS of that year use the 3L I6, or the V6 found in the camry & ES300?

If it's the I6 I would venture to guess that it is more expensive to work on, and has much lower production numbers making for harder to find, and ultimately more expensive parts.

The GS 300, first and second generation, always used the 2JZ-GE 3L Inline 6 engine. Unless you are doing something wickedly stupid, like me when I accidently turned the boost controller to 25psi on 91 octane, the engine itself will probably not need to be serviced.
