YACT: Scion tC vs Corolla XRS vs Mazda 3's

Hey guys I got out of college a few months ago and landed a decent paying job.
Right now I've got a 94 Jetta III that has no turn signals, no tunes, no dash/gauge lights, and leaks oil...

I've been looking at all these smaller cars mostly due to gas prices and no need for anything more.

Right now I perfer the Scion tC to the others but the 2 door is a little bit of a turn off for me.
I actually like the Corolla XRS alot too.
And the Mazda 3 brings up the rear.
Ive narrowed it down to these three.


Any reasons why I shouldn't pick one over the others?

UPDATE: Went to the Honda dealership today and they didn't have any 06's in yet. probably another month until they do... I guess I will wait till then to decide.
I hated the 05's looks but the 06's look pretty nice...

I'd personally get a Prius.
But out of those 3 i'd get the TC

Honestly, I amd rather impressed with the looks of the Corolla. I wouldn't be caught dead in one years ago but I've heard great things.

The Scion tc is a fad by all means, but it is a whole lot of car for the money and great quality that should last forever.

I'd get a tC, unless you're really going to need 4 doors within a few years.

scions are very nice from what i've heard...

tC, or XRS if you really want four doors. Keep in mind it's basically a normal Corolla engine until 6000+rpm, though...the tC will have more low-end power.

You better check the mpg figures on the tC before taking the advice of this board. 21mpg is pretty damn crappy for 160 hp (that feels even slower), small, and FWD.

My POS gets 25mpg

I like the XRS but the one bad thing about it is that back seats does not fold down.
Thats stupid cause the normal Corolla does fold down.

There are probably extra braces behind the seats across the two struts. It gives better rigidity particularly during cornering.

I had a prizm (rebadged corolla) that did not have the folding seat option. I took out the back seat once to install a sub and there was a X brace between the two struts/wheel wells.

However, one sucky thing about the current corolla is that it uses beam suspension in the back, which is non independent and considered the worst type of suspension. I believe the other two are struts all around.

if you do get the mazda3, get the 3i, not the 3s. you get better gas milage and only lose 10 hp.

also, get the smoked tail lights, not the red ones. the smoked lights look ALOT better.

Anyone know where you can get smoked tail lights for the MAzda3? (I refuse to pay $500 to the dealer for them.)

can you tell me about that color? How does it look when dirty. Does it show marks and streaks easily etc
