Michelins are over rated. And WAY overpriced.
Actually, their sidewalls are thin (can't tell you how many I have come in with blown sidewalls). The reason they do this is because they like to be an OEM tire. What matters most on a test drive is noise level, ride and that oh so important EPA mileage rating. The thin sidewalls help with all of these.
I've had great luck with Toyos, Yokohamas, Continentals and Dunlops.
Goodyears and Pirellis are two more brands I've learned to stay away from.
I disagree. I'm very impressed with these tires so far. I'd get them again.
Well then we agree to disagree.
I was aware that my view wouldn't be popular.
Depends on the tire. The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 are absolutely awesome for street tires, as are the older Pilot Sport's. I haven't had a chance to try out the Pilot Sport Cup yet, but those have a great reputation for DOT legal competition (up there with Yok A048's & Pirelli P-Zero Corsa's). Michelin's are also relatively light, which makes a big difference in handling (ever try some of those super-heavy Bridgestone S03's?).
