Wow, I can't believe how awful most of these reccomendations are. If you want good fuel economy in a car that will be anywhere near as fun as an RX8, ALL FWD IS OUT.

Your list in the pricerange of your previous car is as I see it is

WRX
Mustang GT
Miata <- my pick (gotta see the 06'es with the advanced keyless to believe it)
S2000
350z
G35
Crossfire
An off lease Merc roadster
An off lease BMW 330
another RX8

Thats all that comes to mind right now. I know some of those cars have major drawbacks (cough mustang crossfire), but if you want a fun car in that price range with comperable or better economy, nothing else comes to mind.

I found a car, finally. Far from what you call sporty but i think it was a good deal. 2004 Honda Accord EX 2 Dr w/ Navigation. It has every option on the market including heated seats, leather, navi, outside temp, oem front spoiler, oem side spoiler, oem rear wing spoiler & rear under spoiler. It's the 4 Cylinder auto though. Milage is 25k and got it for $17k. What do you think?

i'd look into a used 04' G35 coupe. sure, the interior is not as good, and its power is rated lower compared to the current one, but hell, i've seen them going for $25k at dealers. surely you can look for a cheaper one...

If mine were totaled, I'd replace it with the exact same car, maybe a few years newer. Why wouldn't you?

Shouldn't the V6 be at that price?

My vote is the 06 Miata.

That aside... how about a Miata+aftermarket navi?

I wish i have the guts to buy vehicle with similar price or higher now since i realized even though the car is new and had all warranty and stuff, i'd be losing a lot in the first 1-2yrs of ownership whereas if i buy a newer used car i wouldn't be losing quite as much.

miata (MX-5) is an awesome little car, its handling has been praised many a time by the likes of fith gear, top gear, driven, and other car mags/shows

I did not buy the accord, had to bail from the transaction... the car seem to have damage fixed by the owner but the job was shoddy. I'm not buying someone else's problem so i had to cancel.
I don't want another RX-8, only partially due to the mpg issue. The other issue that steer me away from another rx8 is the safety issue. It's one thing when airbags did not deploy due to off-center impact but my passenger was injured because the seat belt did not restrain him causing him to lurch forward and slam on the A-pillar ad windshield.

Since i might be losing some money on this ordeal, i decided to spend 10k give or take on used car or up to 20-21k on new car. I know it's not much but i'd rather use my money on something else that actually appreciates. I bet there's lots of 10k reliable fun cars out there.

Used cars under consideration so far:
- 00-01 Celica GT-S 6 Spd
- 00-01 Toyota MR2 Spyder

New Cars under consideration:
- 06 Scion tC 5 Spd (These don't depreciate much in my area)
- 06 Civic Cpe 5Spd w/ Navi

I'm avoiding the mazda cars not because of the quality stuff but rather their interior design... it's not very modular so i will be stuck with whatever audio system they put in there.
