YACT: What UNmodded COUPE would you buy for 50-70K?

I'm thinking Used Carrera 4S 2000-2004 model.

Must be a COUPE with Manual transmission...and not one of those annoying paddle shifters!


EDIT: Looking for something with good resale value.

EDIT#2: Because of Nebor I feel like I should clear this up. I'm ACTUALLY looking for a car that meets these specs as a daily driver. I'm just looking for suggestions of cars I should look into besides the Porsche.

I agree, the 645 coupe is gorgeous. An Elise would also be a great choice.

you can get a regular cl500 with an AMG package (there are no engine mods)

You could find a very nice 964 Turbo in that range. That would be my pick; seeking out a 964 Turbo 3.6. That said, the C4S is a worthy choice, though I'm not fond of the 996 styling, I'd be looking at 993's or earlier.

SL is kinda of a chick car.

CL is much more pimp than the SL IMO

The Ferrari sounds nice, but the maintenance can kill you. Expect to spend about $10k every 30k miles.

Lots of good suggestions here and I will repost them The C6 Vette isn't a bad idea. Based on your post, a M5 might be good. I like the Elise idea, but it takes a special breed to handle a car built like a real race car (no comforts, thin everything).

Also, Acura TL (available with M6 but most listed will spank it), Subaru WRX STi, M3, and a used Porsche. A used NSX would probably be the most maintenance free fast car in your range. It will eat tires, but so will a Porsche.
