I would love a wagon but SUVs are much bigger than wagons. I'll put my MDX up against any wagon you can name that they sell right now.

Oo..my Escalade would destroy your MDX.

my new hummer SLUT can destroy your caddy...

oops i mean new hummer SUT...

Man, how many of those did Buick make? Three? Four? I don't think I've ever seen one on the road. What an ugly turd that is...oh wait, it's a Buick.../lowers expectations by 75%...eh, it's probably a practical car.

Ummm... when you say "put it up against," what exactly do you mean? Nobody is claiming that a wagon can do everything an SUV can do, I think what they're getting at is that a wagon can do everything that most SUV drivers USE their SUV for. Unless they're towing, most SUV drivers could find a wagon that meets their needs.

Many SUVs are just taller sedans with extra trunk space.

you're driving a wagon...

EDIT:
A6: Cargo Volume (cu. ft.) 36.40
MDX: Cargo Volume (cu. ft.) 14.80

next!

Huh!?!

What are you talking about?

MDX = 82 cu. ft of cargo volume

MDX seats 7
A6 = 5

And have you ever tried sitting in an A6 or GS or 5 or E class with 2 car seats in that back? You can't unless you amputate the kid's legs or you pull your seat up all the way.

You got the right idea with the Roadmaster, but it WAS ugly. Too bad. That's probably what put the last coffin nail in the full size wagon. Thank God Chrysler had the balls to create the Magnum. Too bad it won't carry a sheet of plywood, though. Neither will your wondrous MDX, A6, or anything other than the biggest minivans. Talk about lowered expectations!

You know, I can fit a sheet of plywood in my Civic... If I cut it in 3 pieces.

bah the wood makes me feel it's more upscale...

the magnum is highly YMMV. me and all the other guys at work agreed that it looks like a minivan with a fat fat lady sat on it and totally squashed the body. and no we do not worship the aztek.... or the roadmaster =)

If I want to have fun, I'll drive my 325i 5 speed. The MDX is strictly utiliitarian.

Thanks anyway.

i'll probably drive wagons until i die. i need the space for my gear, but i wouldn't be caught dead in some piece of crap SUV, and a van would be boring and a gas hog. wagons give you all the advantages of sedans/coupes and none of the problems. most of them have identical chassis to their sedan counterparts so you can expect the same handling/speed with increased practicalilty when you need it. plus they are less of a target for cops, and when you pass peope in one, their pride is hurt so they drive extra fast and you can use them as cop bait.

yeah, so they don't have that cool bachelor image or whatever, but image doesn't do much when a family hauler is blowing your doors off in the twisties.

i love my hatch or 'wagon', although its the compact - my mazda3 carries as much stuff as my dad's blazer and does it w/ 30% better fuel economy and a hell of alot more fun to drive!
