I pay $115 per month will full coverage on a 2003 wrx wagon and 92 acura legend. I have been using USAA now for about 9 years, and so far their prices have been consistently good. When I had the 02 BMW E46 M3 on there before for over a year it was still only $185 for full coverage along with the others. I think it has much to do with what state you live in also. As when I moved from germany it was a little higher, but here in hawaii the price dropped.

Yeah, fvck automatic. I drive my car, I don't point it. And they are going to entirely redo the design next year, but I really like how it looks this year, so I don't care. Plus, I'm not too interested in it retaining value, I want it to last a long time without many problems.

Oh yeah, the 2005 Honda Civic LX! It's got amazing features such as: power windows, power locks, air conditioning, power mirrors, 5 speed transmission, and even a dome light. However, it really is a sweet car, and it looks pretty classy especially considering how cheap it is. I got the color Magnesium Metallic (or vice versa, can't remember), anyways it's a dark silver color and it's money. I got pretty much the exact car I wanted, so I'm excited. It replaced a 22 year old hand me down BMW 320is that was falling apart like crazy. It turns out a 22 year old BMW handles and accelerates about the same as a new Civic.

nice deal! although those "amazing features" seem kinda standard to me

<--- passat w/ power windows (auto up/down too!), locks, heated sideview mirrors and many other goodies

Those are amazing features for me because my last car didn't have them (except the 5-speed)

EDIT: As for the theft comments. That sucks and I did not know that. We'll see how my insurance will be affected, but I have a flawless record, so that'll help. Well, hopefully it won't get broken into, things like that never happen to me anyways, so I'll be fine

Newer model Civics have engine immobilizers in them. My wife is 23 and her insurance for her 2003 Civic EX coupe is less than $50 a month for full coverage.

What state? I live in the Bay Area, CA so insurance is really expensive.

so, if the cost of insurance ruins the deal of buying a civic what is the next best alternative car?

I WAS set on buying a Civic when I graduate, but if insurance rates make it an expensive car to own I'll get something else.

Maybe a Toyota or Nissan?

Nope, it was pretty much all new from the ground up in 2001, including engines and suspensions. The 88-2000 models went through 3 major versions, but for 13 years, used essentially the same engines and suspensions. (They weren't exactly the same through the three versions, so few if any parts were interchangable, but the designs were fundamentally similar.) But the '01-05 is a very different car from the 88-2000.

My car drives very nice. It's got a good transmission, and is really easy/fun to drive. No regrets on my purchase, even with all this theft talk

if you have a 2005 civic, dont even worry about it

the target of stolen civics range from 1988 to 2000.

anything above that, no one really cares.

" ricers " dont care about the new civics, and usually the targets are cars that have modifications, preferably engines and engine mods, and wheels.

my car is a 1997 civic dx hatchback, its got a 1999 civic si motor, and tons more done to it. i havent had any encounters with a theft, but you never know.

my 1989 crx si was broken into in a rich neighborhood my parents lived in, i parked it their because we left in my girlfriends car. ended up getting my radio broken into, 5 other people on the same street were hit as well.

it doesnt matter where you live, if someone wants your sh1t, they are going to get it, but with a 2005 civic, dont even worry.

my car is a huge target though... and no im not a ricer, not every civic owner is a ricer. know your shiz about cars before you bag on other peoples hobbies.

dyno'ed at 173whp.... in a 2200lb civic.

good times.

batmang, thanks for the encouraging advice. I have absolutely no mods on my car, it is just the base model, so hopefully I don't have to worry too much.

Same thing happened with the Accord from 90-97. Even the 98-02 were similar in many aspects. Aside from some late model tranny problems it never hurt their reputation/sales.

Probably because anything above that includes engine immobilizers that makes stealing cars much harder.

eh, you have no clue about the import scene obviously.
mustangs..... bleh. my car runs 14's and im not even done tuning it yet.
13's are very attainable once i get the car tuned.

mustang dont run 14's, mustang gt's run low 14's and have over 300whp.... and cost 30k.

my car .... spent 8k.

to each their own, i like all cars, but prefer imports. their cheap and easy to play with, same goes for older muscle cars. i wish i had money to fix up a grand national.

If your 22 year old BMW performed on the same level as the civic?

why did you not buy a used BMW, for the same price as your NEW civic?

I rather sport a 2000-2001 ish BMW then a 2005 Civic.

But I guess thats just my brain being dumb. Same price, better car.

thanks for the info about new model civics.

My dad has a Nissan. It blows chunks! I hate it. I hate how it drives. Electrical problems constantly. Acceleration is ambarrassing even when racing a semi off the green.

My grandpa bought a brand new Toyota. 6 months later he got rid of it because he hated it so much.

Yup. And the 30-40 MPG average. What's a BMW straight six get for mileage? I'm sure it uses at least half again the amount of fuel a Civic uses. Lower liability and collision insurance on the Civic, too. And maintenance costs? Fuhgeddaboudit!

hell, for a really cheap car with great reliability and gas mileage, and awesome warranty, look into the scion's.

the xB is ugly, its that box one, but the xA isnt too ugly, i almost bought one myself. $12-13k for a brand new one, 35mpg. toyota based... great brand.

No offense but I wouldn't call those "amazing" features
