I am disappointed that I didn't get tickets to Wicked. They were supposed to be good seats, too.

Anyway, I find it a bit suspicious that the winning bidder has been on Ebay for 5 years without having any positive feedback at all. I've compared the join date of both seller and winning bidder, and it seemed like they started the auction craze around the same year. Well, actually the same year as me, too.

What is the likelihood that the winning bidder and seller are connected?

Doubt it, probably a hacked ebay account. Anyways you clearly suck at ebay because 9 seconds isn't even that much. Now 2 seconds or 0 seconds, thats impressive... You fail, Try again...

Oh well, I only bid on Ebay once in a while. I have a back up plan with this anyway. They are holding a ticket lottery at the box office, so I'll put my name on a list and hope for a chance to win $25 tickets.

why couldn't the winning bidder and the seller be connected? it seems like it could be an easy set up.

9 seconds isnt a snipe, 9 seconds is when 90% of bids come in.

I seriously doubt thats a shill, that the seller had another account to outbid you with if he didnt like the price. Thats super easy for ebay to detect.

This is why it is so nice to be able to specify a minimum feedback score for bidders, or block bidders with negative feedbacks in recent history. If you don't use those safeguards for your auction then you're leaving yourself open for this type of stuff.

FWIW I hope it goes ok.

Why would they need to be connected? If they were, why bother paying listing fees, Final value fees, and PP?

Doesn't matter. It wasn't worth it to you to pay more than you bid or you woudl have bid more. That's the way ebay works. If you don't win, it's because someone else paid more than the item was worth to you so why would you be upset? That's the whole point of an auction is you just bid up to what you think the item is worth and if someone else thinks it's worth more, then they pay more.

Because all those "snipers" have fallen for the scam and become last second, impluse buyers that overspend.

You gave eBay your maximum bid. If you were using eBay correctly, you would not have increased your bid no matter what happened. So, the guy sniping at the last second has no effect on you.

You didn't bid high enough. When I snipe, I put up to the amount I'm willing to pay for. So if by any chance I lose in those 15 seconds, I don't get upset.

I think a lot of you misunderstood my intention for this post. I'm merely saying that the fact an account can be 5 years old and not have any feedback looks suspicious to me. I'm not whining about losing the auction. I've lost plenty of auctions to snipers before. This is the first time that I got sniped by someone who has 0 feedbacks and have been on Ebay for 5 years. I'm just curious why it would take someone 5 years to finally bid on an item.

Do any of you have a 5 year old Ebay account without any feedbacks?

In the same logic, do any of you have any 5-year old ATOT accounts with 0 posts?

There's always an opportunity to post or reply to some thread. I just find it hard to believe that in 5 years this person has not received a single feedback. After all, there are many opportunities for someone to bid and win an item in a 5 year time span.

It's probably the seller. Perhaps he didn't want to sell the tix for this low and bid with his ebay mule to prevent a possible loss on the sale? Kinda stupid for sniping it, he shoulda bid at least 1 hour prior to auction end to give you guys a chance to outbid him.

If you'd like, I'll sing "Popular:music:" for you, for free. I've got a little niece who plays the "good witch" and she's always singing that song.

Check hellman69. I have a feedback of 1, at that was from 1999. So it's been 8 years since I've bid and won on ebay.

Yeah, but you did bid and win something.

None of us can know if the account that won this auction was a shill account, because we can't see its bid history beyond the last 30 days (during which it has only bid on one auction). It's entirely possible that it's a shill account. If the OP gets a second chance offer, that'd be a good indication, but even that wouldn't be solid proof.
