For a while I wondered why there were no blacks nor many minorities where I reside or even in some of the places I've lived across in the US since moving here many years ago. Two weeks ago I learned a new term I'd never seen before, a "sundown town" imagine the horror on my face to learn this was still a concept even past the civil rights movement well into the 1980's.

Even before the Trayvon Martin shooting a decade ago was it now? there were always reports of minorities, mainly Blacks being stopped in nice neighbourhoods or stores and asking whether they lived in the area or not, and what they were "looking for" at the store. It doesn't happen now a days but I remember spotting white store workers following Black families in grocery stores or home wares stores from afar.
