Racists and people who are sympathetic towards them need to be forced or prodded.What's missing from the story though, is that Hilton Worldwide basically told them that they can expect to see their franchise license yanked, if "corrective action" were not immediately taken.
I'm sure it had something to do with the international boycott against ALL Hilton brands to cause them to take action. But my thinking is, people shouldn't have to be forced to do the right thing.

Maybe a little payback? McDonalds in St Pete FL started the plastic drinking straw ban a little early. White guy gets upset, grabs the server and she starts beating the crap out of him and he doesn't let go. He finally left and called the police later saying a group of black people robbed him. The police recognized the guy and arrested him. Apparently he was intoxicated.
Hope she doesn't get disciplined.

I heard on the radio this past week that the girl behind the counter that was hit was either a former boxer or current boxer. I'm not sure if that just means she does boxing for training or actually fights for real, but she clearly knew how to punch.
Given that he insisted on holding on even after she started hitting, I suspect she'll be fine. If anything, she'll be commended for standing up to him!
Also, it's still somewhat telling that the scapegoating comes out when the guy's drunk and upset. "It's not my fault, it's some black people!" That's why it's sad when some white conservatives argue that they're not racist because they don't use the N-word and have a few black coworkers. A lot of modern racism sits just underneath the surface, waiting for the inhibitions to lift just a little bit before the hatred bubbles up.
