a further tie breaker could be who scored more points in the previous week

Yeah, the most popular thought right now is points scored in the final week, then points by QB in final week, then RB, etc., etc.

If they tie on that (yeah, right), I think we will just kick them both out of the league for wanting to be in the playoffs with a .500 record.

We solved that problem a few years back. We all have a paid leauge so in addition to our entry fee we throw in an extra 2$ for commish fees. So 15 people = 30$ just to run the show. Every year someone has volunteered to do the work.

UPDATE:

Now it looks like the following is the likely result:

IMAGINEERS 7-5-2 0.571
DEVILS 8-6-0 0.571

My record in my league right now is 9-2-0, and the closest opponent (second loser) is 128 points behind. I hope nobody ties or pass my record.

And, the beautiful thing is my CFO runs the league, if I win I get the money up front and he'll collect from everybody..haha.

BTW 6-6-2 is NOT a .500 winning percentage. Winning Pct. is not based on wins and losses, its number of wins out of the total number of games played.

6 wins in 14 games is a .428 winning percentage, in other words that team won 42.8% of the games it played. (The 7-7 team won exactly 50% of the games it played)

On the basis of that argument ALONE Devils go to the playoffs and one would be hard pressed to rebutt your argument.

I'm such a geek, I read the title of this thread as: YAFFT: Tie-Fighter

I thought they were making a new game

Carry on.

Do Imagineers and Devils not play head to head? Winner of that game should go to the playoffs.

If that game ends up tied, the team with the most wins should go to the playoffs.

"1972...
Tie games, previously not counted in the standings, were made equal to a half-game won and a half-game lost, May 24."

For example, check out the pct of the Steelers and Falcons in 2002:

They split their head-to-head games by the same margin of victory.

UPDATE:

Ended up 8-6-0 and 7-5-2. The Commish ruled that 8 wins are better than 7 wins and gave the playoff spot to the Devils.

BTW, I am the Devils.

I started 0-5, then 1-5, then 1-6 before winning the next seven (including the season ending win over Imagineers) to make the playoffs. Also, I actually got the No. 3 seed, so I do not have to face the No. 1 seed until the Championship Game.
