I am putting together a sort of home gym:

I just bought a Bowflex Sport Home Gym from Amazon & I have a weight bench with flat & incline press.

I was looking at a Bowflex Series 3 Treadmill for my cardio needs, then I decided to check out a rower.

Anyone have any advice on cardio machines?

For overall cost/benefit excellence, check out that city sidewalk in front of your house. it costs you NOTHING to use, yet the benefits are tremendous, and YOU decide how much how much effort to put into it...and how much benefit you get...

I have a condition in my right foot, so barring running on the street/sidewalk what would you recommend?

Look on Craigslist for a used exercise bike. I bought one for $50, and I really enjoy it. I can read, watch movies, or listen to music, while getting fit.

I really don't take well to running (pavement). I vastly prefer an eliptical. Though, I tend to lean more toward the higher end models (Precore) that offer stronger resistance settings.

Ditto.

Precore or nothing when it comes to ellipticals. Having run cross country for 5+ years I haven't found a better replacement for running than Precore elliptical machines.

The polar opposite of "value" though.

Why does everyone have a "condition" that somehow prevents only running? I've overcome breaking my left foot 3 times, knee injuries, back injuries, even smoking newports to still run like the wind!

Haha, those will get you everytime

OP: You should have known everyone was going to say run your ass down the sidewalk. If that hurts try walking or a light jog. It's better then a $3000 dust collecter. Look into a power rack if you want to add to your anerobic exercise. They are fairly cheap and will allow you to do squats, rows (barbell), overhead presses, pull ups and stuff like that. Too many home gyms are filled with crap (like bowflexes) A good BP and PowerRack is all you need. If you want more then that, I suggest you go apply for a gym membership instead.

Good for you, the rest of us need to reduce resistance to exercise to get started in it.

Also people who have a significant amount of weight end up in a lot of non beneficial pain from high impact activities.

I personally like rowing machines, ellipticals make the muscles in my feet hurt for some reason (like a cramp)

Edit: Don't spend a lot of money on something fancy because $$ can't guarantee success.

Look I have a condition in my right foot, I'm not making up a condition. I have a gym membership and recently became a father which makes it hard to drive 30 minutes to the gym. Please hold your stereotypes for other threads. Before my son was born I was in the gym 3 times a week minimum. I am trying to bring the gym home so I dont have to drive 30 work 1 hours and drive 30 missing 2 hours after a 8 to 10 hour day at work.

jump rope maybe? I don't know if your foot condition would prohibit that or that.

Give me a decent road bike any day.

Recommend a good road bike?

Go down to your local bike shop (LBS) and see what they have onsale. Bike shops always have something on sale. Whatever you do, stay away from Walmart and the other department stores. They sell crap bikes that will only frustrate the hell out of you.

What is your price range?

Exactly, you've overcome these injuries. Were any of them a result of running? I don't know anyone who runs consistently who hasn't had issues because of it. Running is great exercise but your body takes a beating as a result.

No thanks, I'll stick to cycling.

After my next paycheck I'm getting either a rowing machine or a free-standing heavy bag. I know those are the two I'm most likely to stick with, as well as being the easiest to relocate next time I move.
