YAGT: Do you worry about ending up alone?

Being alone is not the worst thing. Being trapped in a relationship with someone who is constantly trying to control your life is far worse. Many times I have found myself in a relationship hoping for my freedom again.

As has already been pointed out... we are born alone and we ultimately die alone unless, of course, you happen to die in a plane crash and having someone with you at that moment is not going to improve the final experience.

It would be nice to find a life partner but if I never do I will still have lived a very nice life and enjoyed love when I felt it. :beer:

Focused on my career and more school right now, a serious long term relationship is not what I need right now. I don't think I'd have any problem finding one when I want to and don't worry about it in the slightest, however I wouldn't pass up the "perfect" girl either just because of that, problem is it takes time to figure out if she is, and usually isn't close.

I worry about being alone frequently. However, I realize that I am 18 and in college right now, and a long term thing is probably unrealistic. I have a hard enough time keeping close friendships, that I don't think I would be able to hold down a long term relationship or marriage well. I imagine myself doing better with relationships (friends and women) when I am out of school and more focused on the other things in life.

I don't like to think I worry about it so much, but it does make me wonder at times. I'll be 26 next week, own a house by myself, good job, but love seems to be the area i'm not as successful. Been single with only a handful of dates since May last year mostly because its harder to meet new people as I spend a lot of time with work, which helps in no way with meeting women (I'm an engineer).

Who knows.

I'm 26, no gf. Haven't been on a date in years. I just don't get to meet people because I rarely go out and I'm really shy around people I don't know.

So sometimes it really hits me hard that I don't have an SO to share things with but then sometimes I'm glad I'm single and don't have to deal with them either
