There is also educational use, like for gunsmiths. You can also see them at military and firearm museums.

cutaways would be rare collector's items as usually not many are made.

i remember seeing some NRA show awhile back and they appraised guns and told some history of them. One guy brought in an old cutaway lever action rifle. Only 3 were ever made.

Usually when people say 9mm they mean 9x19/Parabellum/Luger.

There are other 9mm rounds but they usually use another name (eg .380 Auto, aka 9mm Short) or are known by their full name rather than just 9mm (eg 9x18 Makarov).

Anyone know of any statistics about crimes committed by people with legally owned guns vs stolen guns? Hell, i'd be interested in most any gun statistics just out of curiosity and to be able to argue my case more effectively. I wonder how many people die just shooting at a range. IMO unless youre an idiot, it doesnt seem that dangerous.

My cousin was saying a bunch of stuff about guns that sounded pretty ridiculous, but i couldnt really refute them since i dont know much about this stuff.

Also, i intend to take classes, but in the meantime, can anyone recommend any videos or anything about gun safety?

If you're talking about the conversation I think you're talking about, I'd ask "alright even if all that is true, how do those stories apply to me?"

My sister is outright scared of guns and when I first told her I bought one she said "but guns... kill things". My response: "Funny, I don't." Your cousin has probably seen some BS HBO specials. (I've yet to encounter a non-historical documentary about guns that gets its facts straight)

So whenever you hear some sleazebag lying politician complain about gunshows, you'll know that criminals hardly ever get their guns from gunshows. It's just power hungry asshole politicians who want to ruin the fun of law abiding gun owners.

Glock makes them. But you can't buy them as a consumer IIRC.

Question...do new versions of guns come out every year? Like ipods/ipads/iphones, etc? I wanna get one, but want to make sure that i'm not getting one right before a revision comes out.

Oh yeah, and about how many rounds do you guys use on average at the range?

Not really. New guns will come out every year, some will get discontinued, and if there's been an issue with the gun a new "edition" might fix it. Small features might be added/taken away.

As far as typical additions go, Glock is the best example. It's been around since the mid-80s, and we're only on generation 4. New "versions" happen, but the gun world moves much slower than the computer world. We've pretty much perfected the fundamental art of launching supersonic balls of lead at each other.

Hell the CZ-75 first showed up in 1976.
