oh, i forgot i also got a big bucket of .45 acp brass
You need powder and lead too, brah!
Also, primers. Those are great.
Your right, don't buy reloads from Joe Plumber are a gun show. Best case is they work and you saved a few bucks. Worst case scenario he double charged a round and you blow your $1k+ rifle and suffer some have wounds. Yes, a 5.56 rifle can handle higher pressure but the big risk with reloads is they put power in twice and that's going to go boom. Search Glock kaboom or AR kaboom and look at the results. There are several companies(Georgia Arms among others) that produce reliable reloads if you must buy them. Personally I wouldn't shoot them.

Holy sh!t, that is a custom 1911, and a very nice looking one at that! I thought he was going to pull out some crappy looking gun that barely functioned.
Hardly custom, the finish is very rough, although the shitty video quality somewhat compensates for it. There's no way to see how tight the fit is either. I'd also like to see accuracy and reliability tests.
It's impressive given how primitive the resources and manufacturing processes must be.

On the subject of Ammo.
Military Surplus (7.62x39) out of China - I'm curious as guys are talking about reloads and the risks associated, if anyone has the same concerns when buying surplus ammo out of china or russia.
I recently aquired a SKS and I'm curious what peoples thoughts are. (pictures to follow)
Thanks!
This place was $70 for normal rate, and $60 for vets/retired military. Guns were free to be used if one didn't have one. No charge to use one of the instructors guns. They did charge $40 if you had to buy ammo though. Although I will admit they didn't have free donuts with their course. Personally I think I'd rather save $100 than have "free" donuts with my instruction.
If anyone in or around SA, TX is wondering where I went then send me a PM. I highly recommend the place I went for my class.

I endured the 10 hour course on Saturday. Now I have to do finger printing soon and then a 6 week wait or so for the license. Class was actually really good considering. Barely even noticed that it took that long. The instructors I had were actually really good at teaching as well as entertaining enough that the 10 hour course actually didn't seem all that long.
On top of that, basically they had the cheapest price around. Everyone else is like $100 to $160 for the class. I checked out over a dozen places and the second cheapest was $95 for a veteran. Speaking of which, most only took about $5 or so off their regular rate for retired military or vets. $5 off the normal rate of $125 isn't really all that much. Then most still charge you for range fees, and even charge you rent if you need to borrow a gun to qualify with. Gun rental was typically around $50 from most places I looked at. Then they were charging about $40 for a box of 9mm. So a person that was looking to go to another class could end up paying almost $250 for their class. Then still have to pay $10 for finger printing and $140 for their license from the state. But they get free donuts!

What kind?
I picked up my Yugo M59/66 years ago for $175 ish.
Good question!
I believe it is a Russian made one, as it has the Tula star on it?
I'm quite new to the whole thing, so far I've just got the SKS which needs its first cleaning, and a Ruger SR-22 because good luck finding a 10/22 right now in canada.
I picked up the SKS because of what I had heard about it, and the local wholesaleports had them in stock again. Figured I'd do more reading and learn more about it as I go

There's plenty of places to help ya identify that sks. If it has a star with arrow in it, that is the tula arsenal. Milsurp.com I think it is has good info on the history and identification. There's plenty other sites to help as well.
If it is a Russian congrats! Those are getting a bit harder to find as the Chinese ones keep coming in now

Damn, I haven't looked in a while but is that what 80% lowers are going for now? Not quite 2 years ago I got a finished one for $80...I know mine has a serial number but still...I would like to do one some day though just to say I did it:awe:
