If you wanted a 9mm carry gun what would you buy?
I was in the market for this exact thing this past winter and I went with a Walther PPS. I was also looking at the Shield and Glock 26.

For me, I wanted a single stack 9mm so I wasn't too big on the G26 as it was too thick for me (I'm a skinny dude anyway and planned to carry IWB). I had also shot my friend's Kahr CM9 which was nice too but I wasn't big on the longer, heavier trigger. I couldn't find a Shield to even get my hands on so I went with the PPS which I got a good deal on used. I would've definitely considered the XDs 9mm but didn't really feel like waiting for it to come out, much less finding one in-stock (and paying the price).

There's a lot of 9mm guns that would be great for carry, single- and double-stack, but that was kinda my selection process.

A friend of mine is looking to sell some guns.

What's a fair price for:

A Gen 3 Glock 17 with a laser scope?

A Sig P229 40 cal?

Thanks!

no price checks. look at gunbroker.

laser scope? no such thing as far as I know. do you mean a red dot sight or just a laser attachment?

I guess he means a laser attachment. I know very little about guns. Didn't realize price checks were not allowed; my apologies.

Thanks for the suggestion about gunbroker!

Unfortunately those are two of the worst guns ever made. They're total garbage. I'll do your friend a favor and take them off his hands for $20 each. ^_^

So I'm wrestling with whether I should sell my custom m14 (all USGI parts) and use the funds to, well, fund the purchase of a new fishing kayak. I'm thinking I'd get more use out of the kayak, but who knows.

Would hate to part with it as it's a beautiful rifle, but my wife would have my balls in a vice if I spent $2500 + out of pocket on a kayak.

Haven't made up my mind, but if anyone here might be interested in the rifle, let me know... I'd feel like a dirty whore if I had to resort to gunbroker.

I've sold one gun in my life and I swore I'll never go it again. Just save money on the side for your new want, that's my policy at least.

I've sold 2 just recently because I needed the money.

sold my Yugo SKS for $350 ($110 more than I paid for it), 400 rds of 7.62x39, and my Walther P-1 for $325 ($75 more than I paid for it).

I shot 100 rds of the SKS and it just didn't do anything for me. Shot 16 rounds out of the Walther and didn't do anything for me either.

Would have rather bought another gun with the money, but like i said, needed the money for bills. I don't regret selling either.

I do have plenty of other guns and some I would definitely regret selling, so I'd have to be in some major financial troubles or something to get to the point of selling them.

I've heard it's not good or not allowed to sell your gun for more than you buy it for since it'll look like you're reselling. Seems like BS to me. What do you guys think? I guess just dont do it often.

it's really all on intent. buying the guns with the intent to sell them for profit is the problem.

I bought these guns like 2 or 3 years ago with the full intent that I would use them and keep them.

After I bought them, I didn't like them. They sat in my safe for 2-3 years. I needed money for bills so I sold them.

Also, prices change - some guns are worth more the older they get. some don't change, some lose value. just look at prices on certain guns over the last few months.

Selling a used gun or two even a month later from your personal collection because you don't like it or need money back is just a private sale. Camping the line in Walmart to buy the same gun over and over again and listing them new in box on Gunbroker immediately is unlicenced arms dealing.

Pretty much nails it.

I've only sold one as well. A glock 20. I just did not like it at all. Never fit me right and just felt to cheap for me. When its something like that I don't care about selling cause I'm not going to shoot it over my other 10mm.

I have sold plenty of spare parts and mags I didn't want though. Recently sold 20 10/22 mags cause I prefer the bx25 ones over the others

Just picked up a P938. 50 rounds of Blazer 115gr FMJ and two mags of Golden Sabers / Gold Dots mixed - no issues so far. This will probably be my new carry gun; I love the M&P Shield, but it's a little bit bigger than I had hoped.

Which one did you get? I've got the Extreme and it's been rock solid for the 500 rounds or so I've got through it. It's a nice little gun. Run it well lubed and you won't have any issues. Just make sure you keep an eye on the grip screws as they have a tendency to work themselves loose, some purple locktight is a easy fix. It's my BUG at work but if getting ready to lose off-duty CCW status to a Glock 27, I just can't get used to the safety no matter how hard I try.

I got the Blackwood version - stainless slide, black anodized frame, and black (laminate?) wood grain grips. My only real regret is that it didn't come with the 7-round extended mag. I'm looking around for one now.

Ahhhh...i cant bring myself to pull the trigger on the ruger 10/22. I know i shouldnt be spending money but I want something. Wahhh

I picked up a 10/22 Takedown. I LOVE the rifle. It's really a lot of fun to shoot and I love how small it gets being able to take it apart. Carrying tons of rifles when I'm out on the ranch pretty much sucks, takes up a lot of room. This thing I can pack about anywhere.

I highly recommend a 10/22.

If you're patient you can get one retail and just check cabela's for ammo. I don't rush purchases on this stuff and never pay ridiculous prices from private sellers or places like CTD.

Hell,l I picked up the 10/22 TD on sale at Big 5 during the height of all this BS. Just be patient and you'll get a good deal. If you're itching and can't control yourself, well, you'll pay for it then.

I think I could get a take down for $350. I could get the regular rifle (a bit upgraded from the regular carbine) for $270. I was hoping to keep it under $300. But, i kinda want the take down because my safe is quite small. So i dunno. I really really want one, but the more I think about it, the less I can justify it, lol.

Yeah, if you're trying to keep it under $300 a TD is tough to do. I picked mine up for $319 I believe it was on sale at Big 5. I haven't checked adds lately so not sure how the sales are currently going, but if you really want the TD it might be worth waiting until you can get one. Even if not, the 10/22 is such a great rifle to have.

I picked up one of these today for my son, who is not due to be born yet or another 10 days. All I have ever seen before we're crickets but this savage rascal has the accutrigger and seems much better made. I will prob take it camping or something to have a little grouse gun around, and my nephews can shoot it until My son gets big enough.
