Now you just need to move the optic all the way forward... move that vertical grip a little bit more forward... and get a light mount! :awe:

(Sorry, I set my rifles up a certain way and it's hard to accept other people's setups unless they do exactly what I would do)

I'm all about weight distribution and balance. Keep it close and tight. Aimpoint weighs about a pound, don't care to throw it all the way forward (I did try it).

Is there a general consensus on how effective pistol grips are? Like, if cost wasn't an issue, would everyone have one?

Honestly it's only there because it came with the MOE package.

Seriously though cost isn't an issue. Vertical grip is like $10.

Nah, I get it. I subscribe to the support arm out wrapped around the rail method of shooting so more weight forward doesn't bother me as much. But I've also gone through 3 different rails trying to get enough length on the rail to actually get my arm fully out there. I can't do carbine length gas with a 7" handguard anymore. And I don't like the fixed sight post anymore because my support hand will be right next to it/wrapped around in front of it on a rail that leaves a cutout for it.

To each his own, benefits and negatives to all styles of shooting.

The MOE ones are cheap, like $20 cheap and come with a little rail section for putting through the holes of a headshield on a standard handguard.

I have one, but I'm going to transition to a handstop of some kind because it's just pointless having that much vertical grip if I never use it for anything but a backstop for the side of my hand.

Yeah I'm eventually going to replace the gas block with a flat one with a flip up front sight.

The Aimpoint was actually intended for a Arsenal AK when the MI scope rail gets here. This AR is getting a Eotech EXPS3-2 and 3x magnifier.

I tried a 3x mag for my rifle for a bit, never got that enamored with it though. Definitely prefer a low mag variable and offset sights.

pistol grip is the one near the buttstock, vertical grip is the one you are talking about.

Since all ARs come with pistol grips in their original design, its assumed he was asking about forward vertical grips.

Either way its a $10-20 piece of plastic, not cost prohibitive at all.

My Mk14 hit the reserve price I had set, yes!

Mossberg is also going to someone else...now to sell the AR15 and the full size 1911...

and use the proceeds both fatten my wallet and to pay for a cheapy gun safe that will just deter any would be thieves.

6 months after ordering, the 50 round drum for my Sig 522 finally arrived, only 2 months after the shooting trip I ordered it for Oh well, at least I can still have fun with it. Now if I could only find .22 ammo in stock...

Which ones did ya get? I got some blackdog machine ones a couple months ago that i have yet to use. Been waiting to go out in the woods to use them really but havent yet. Be a fun novelty toy that i wont use very often but something about a 50 round drum with standard velocity 22lr and a can just sounded so fun when i ordered them!

I do the supporting arm as far out as possible with a magpul AFG2. I like it and it feels a lot more stable for me. Situational though in my mind as for longer, steadier shots its awesome. but if trying to raise and shoot then i find holding it more traditionally works better for me. And of course im only talking AR's. Other rifles i just grab wherever the handgaurd is lol.

Just got back from Montana, wow what a different world than CA. Open Carried pretty much everywhere (except when we went out drinking), including on a hike through a National Forest. Note the sad 10rd mag on the AR. :/

Very nice..and if you hadn't mentioned having a 10rnd mag in there I would have asked why you were carrying it unloaded:awe:

Anyone here own a Glock 21 ? I thinking about adding one to my arsenal...

If not anyone have any good recommendations on a .45? No need to be concealable per say. Probably would just be for the home etc.

I thought about a Springfield XDS or whatever its called but I don't like the small magazine...

I hate Glocks, they feel like an awkward brick in my hands and the sight picture stinks to me...but it's personal preference so hold one yourself before taking any advice

You can never go wrong with a 1911, plenty of high-cap versions out there too if you want more than the standard capacity

The g21sf feels totally different than the standard g21. I love my glocks. It is what I started with and just stuck with them. Sight picture can be fixed by training to look at front sight. Not everyone likes how they feel though.

I'll have to check the sf out, I'm always willing to change my mind...

Well in my pic above it is a .45 standard XD w/ 4 inch barrel, obviously not a CC weapon, but I personally love the platform.

The XDm can be customized for capacity, I can't personally comment on concealing one though, as my county does not issue permits to the commoners.

The G21 is very boxy and bulky feeling in the grip area. It's not just palmswell either, it's the whole thing. The SF feels a lot nicer for me, but I have met guys who like the big G20/21. To me the SF has a much better trigger reach, & allows more control as I feel more confident in my hand positioning (I use thumbs forward grip).

Worth a look at the store anyway.

The Gen 4's are the same size as the previous SF models.

The Springfield XDs is made for concealed carry, not home defense, although it would still go bang if needed.

I'd get a full size service pistol for home defense (1911, SIG P226, Glock 17, XD(m), S&W M&P, etc) for increased capacity and, especially, longer sight radius.
