no pump on my 11-87P

Hopefully 8 shotshells of 00 buck fired off in rapid succession would do the trick in scaring all the blood out of an invader though.

If you hit him. If not, you'd be kinda fucked unless you can reload really fast.

Personally, I am willing to bet most that own 12 gauge 'shottys' will never be home invaded.

It's not because they own that 12 gauge.

Some of the crowd I mix with are actually carrying armor piercers. They own cars that cost more than my house and multiples of them.

More than one of the people I know have had home invasions. None of them have died.

Not necessarily. I was just considering pistols; there's plenty of options. Personally, the AR-15 gets my vote.

Full size 1911 loaded with JHP, carried in a holster. Both my roommate and I wear these when at home. So far, no home invasions...

Does anyone know of how to dispose of old ammo? Someone gave me some ammo, and they said it was pretty old. Well, I didn't expect it to look like something out of WWII. That being said, I'm not putting any of that stuff through my guns and just want to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

What caliber? And why not?? People shoot old surplus stuff all the time..

If it is factory stuff you'd be better off selling it than trashing it..

Anyone here own a Glock 21 ? I thinking about adding one to my arsenal...

If not anyone have any good recommendations on a .45? No need to be concealable per say. Probably would just be for the home etc.

I thought about a Springfield XDS or whatever its called but I don't like the small magazine...

Love my 21, its a gen 2 Ive had for years. I installed a hogue handall on the grip for the finger grooves (gen 2 glocks had no finger grooves) and extra palm swell. My wife who has rather small hands loves shooting it too, because she can shoot spectacular groups with it at short ranges.

Lately Ive been thinking about getting a Ruger SR1911, been hearing good things about them.

Depends what caliber it is. If it's 8mm or 7mm mauser stuff, it's corrosive but all 7mm and 8mm is corrosive anyway. If it's 30-06...shoot it.

A lot are 9mm hand loads. And I'm not going to shoot someone else's hand loads.

Depending how many id pull them bullets, save the brass and bullets and reuse them. Dump the primers and powder. if its a crap ton of them (like more than 100...) id probably just find a range and give them to them. Least my range has bins for "misfires" and talking to one of the RSO's all they do is take those home and pull them themselves.

Now if it was old factory ammo....shoot it! Ammo from the 30's has been shot and done just fine. its just a matter of if the ammo was exposed to moisture or extreme heat. if you fire a round and its old and has been exposed it most likely just wont fire or will just sort of be a noticeable dud (ie way less recoil/velocity)....just make sure the bullet left the barrel 100% for sure!

I've shot some 8mm ammo from the 30's, and .45 ACP from WW2. It all worked. Maybe a bit more flash and smoke than current ammo, but it was still reliable.

i really hate waiting. My two garands have finally gone to the estore for the CMP. Should ship within 20 days. Its almost as bad as waiting for my suppressor! Which is ANOTHER wait. Ordered that end of December so almost to 8 months on that so any day for that too!!! Grrrrrr

on a positive ordered a new rifle bag (voodoo tactical double rifle 42" case), muzzle break (AAC 51t for the suppressor), and a scope mount (nikon m223) for my AR

What's wrong with that? My 1911 once chugged about 150 WWII military-surplus ammo just fine. I know a guy who's shot Bulgarian ammo from 1910 in his Mosin.

Looking to pick up a Winchester Model 1897...sadly the riot and trench versions cost more than I am willing to spend...

Got my press set up for .223 yesterday and prepped about 100 .223 cases last night. Have bullets but can't actually load anything for lack of powder. I bought some H380 kind of assuming that any rifle powder would work tolerably well in any rifle, but apparently that one is good for practically everything except for .223. TIL.

Also, prepping rifle cases is kind of a PITA.
