It's not just laying on my side. If I'm sitting at a desk or table and lean forward/to the sides, or stretch, there will be significant printing on a even a compact gun. If I lean back and/or shift to the side in my seat, I feel it pressing into me.

I think the main issue is my body type. I'm 5'11" with a medium frame and am very vertically even; so I'm not so lanky that my clothing can hang off me (to hide something) nor do I have any curves or recesses big enough to tuck the butt of a gun into.

The problems aren't insurmountable, I could make minor alterations to my wardrobe and likely be fine, but the additional discomfort just isn't worth it to me.

I have a similar build, and I do find it much more difficult than some people to conceal IWB or OWB. I hear people talking about carrying a full size 1911, P226, or similar with no problems, but there's no way I could with out wearing a parka or something.

I've personally found that smaller "pocket 9s" conceal well for me IWB, and they don't make me feel like I'm walking around with a brick in my pocket. Currently I carry a Sig P938, but I also have an M&P Shield that gets some holster time. The holster itself makes a HUGE difficult (much more so than the belt I've found), with Crossbreed-style holsters being my current favorites. Shepherd Leather makes a good kydex / leather hybrid holster for only around $35, and it's available on Amazon. I also have a Comp Tac MTAC for the Shield, which I love.

Keltec PF9 and a pocket holster. Prints through your pocket looking like an iPod, not a gun.

The surplus guns, from what I have read, is only on us surplus guns...so m1 garands, 1903s, ect. That's the wording I have seen. Would have to see the actual eo to know for sure though. But since congress has a congressional law with the fnp for garands not sure how that would play out exactly.

The nfa trust is another example of them not knowing what they are talking about. If I buy a nfa item I get a background check on me when I pick the item up. If I then give it to someone who is a felon on my trust you have provided a firearm to a felon anyways...which is illegal. It's just silly and a non issue to begin with. The only reason people do trusts is cause the cleo signoff is nearly impossible to get in most areas. If the std changed that then you'd see a crap ton more nfa items registered to individuals.

Fix what's broken instead of breaking more crap.

As terrible as it is at least it's just US surplus for now, when I first read this I started making plans to go buy a Mosin Nagant carbine and SKS on the way home from work if they were affected.

I guess I don't have anything else to compare my MTAC to (unless you count a SERPA CQC OWB/drop leg holster) but I love mine also. I was debating on getting it or a Crossbreed Super/Mini-Tuck; went with the MTAC but I think I would've been pleased with either.

That surplus ban is still fucking ridiculous though. Yesterday when I read it, I didn't see anywhere that it was US only. The only positive to come out of it is that it's just US surplus... for now. I don't see why they won't also extend it to foreign surplus.

As i mentioned that is the wording i have read. Its different from site to site. Some say imports on US military surplus guns, other sites say imports on military surplus guns. Will have to wait and see but i wouldnt panic completely yet....though if you dont have a mosin or a sks id still go out and get them

AGAIN that is only what I myself read. Heres a decent summary of the two EO's. Note its fox news but theres other places (huffington post being one) that mention the World War 2 era weapons only too.
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/08/29/truth-about-obama-new-executive-orders-targeting-guns/

As for the NFA trust...TTAG is reporting the end is near (more or less)
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/20...ign-off-to-every-person-listed-on-gun-trusts/

Basically EVERY single person on the trust has to get a CLEO signoff. Which for most people is the only issue they go the trust route. It seems MOST CLEO's wont sign off AT ALL on the class 3 items. Hence why trusts are so popular. Making the CLEO required for ALL persons is absurd and basically means youll get instant approval from the atf when you submit your forms since there wont be anyone else who can even submit a form.

If both become reality i forsee them both ending up before the supreme court. The import ban simply cause its banning guns in common usage from being imported and also guns that (lets face it) are not used in crimes but for history. The NFA because you have now prevent someone who can legally possess a item from being able to it. You make the CLEO the judge on who can and cant get them even if that persons state allows them and they pass background checks.

And RIP Cali. Here soon you wont even be able to have any sort of rifle.

o another note! Im home again! And home waiting for me were some nice things!

First up we stopped at my favorite gun store on the way home. Sitting there just happened to be a Ruger MKIII 22/45 with threaded barrel. The exact model ive been looking for. So she came home with me My dad was kicking the tire on a CZ 455 (and he has been for awhile now) so i finally gave him the nudge to buy it. Only a pic of the 22/45 with my sprectre II on it.

Then i got a preorder from promag. A stock for mosin's. Ill be curious to try it out. The detachable magazine (sorry cali!) is a neat feature. It feels like a nicely made piece so be fun to shoot. THough i do have to get another mosin to put it in. THinking a type53 or m44 for the fireball effect.

And lastly....the CMP finally delivered! Two HRA Service grade M1 Garands! Im a bit (completely) new to garands but they both seem nice. The top one seems the more beat up. THe front portion is loose (not the hand guard part but infront of that) and the metal is more of a light gray (can tell in the pics a bit). Also the stock is more beat up and theres a white P (looks painted on) on the bottom by the trigger guard. GOing to make this one my shooter. The bottom one is overall in nice shape! The stock has some dings but nothing major. The metal is all a nice dark color. Havent done anything but look at them and put them in the safe though. Going to have to change that this weekend though!

On a sad note my xds is one of the ones being recalled So off to the factory it goes tomorrow

Long post and i apologize for that but hey had lots to say/report on!

The CMP received my order 4/22/13. Got the email saying the received it on 4/30. Then nothing till July 10th when it "hit the estore". Then nothing till 8/22 where they charged credit card and shipped. There is a nice thread on the cmp forums where people post that info so you can kind of compare when yours should come through.

I did order 1k ammo after that and it took like a month to get here.

Range report probably tomorrow. Still unpacking and errands today!

Very rarely have I seen release product that made me go "WANT!" from the start, and the Nagant Archangel stock is one of those. Makes me regret not picking up a M44 carbine I found before I moved...nice unstained birch stock and hardly any rust. Didn't have much money at the time, but I'm kinda holding out for a dragoon-length version though I know they're pretty rare.

I did the glow paint treatment on my SIG's sights last night...VERY pleased with the results.

cmp is slow, but then again, they aren't some huge company with tons of employees. plus they get TONS of orders every day.

I ordered my Garand and lots of surplus 30.06 from them though.

Range report!!

It shot perfectly! At 100 yards it was doing probably 3-5MOA with the cheap surplus greek ammo form the CMP. That plus im terrible with iron sights and i know it has more to give. Plus that was just me resting my elbow on the bench..no bags or something. Can probably be a 1-2MOA gun IMO. It didnt kick all that hard. Though i only put ~60 rounds through it this time. Kicks more than my 308 with break but wasnt to bad at all. Will say the thing just tosses brass where ever the F it wants! Some was going straight up, some to the rear a bit, and others straight out. Was glad the two benches next to me were empty as the brass was hitting the tables. Even the clips fly. They all went to the rear though. Though one did manage to hit the roof (its a short roof ~10ft up) and can right back down on my neck. Didnt hurt but just kinda funny.

Its instantly become one of my favorite guns. Fun to shoot, accurate, and has the history! For the 650 (ish) you pay for it, its worth even penny.

I just ordered a Kidd two stage trigger, Kidd bolt, buffer, scope base, and extended cocking lever for my 10/22! Very excited. Waiting a month or two for some initial impressions on his new 1.25lb ultralight barrel before I take a plunge on that.

I just ordered my first rifle, a Chinese type 53 (Mosin M44 clone). I can hardly wait, and I hope it is in decent condition.

Awesome! Youll love it and the cheap ammo it comes with. 19 cents for a powerful round is damn hard to beat! Where ya order it from?

Great minds must think alike. My next firearm purchase is gonna be a .22LR pistol and it's gonna be the Ruger 22/45 Lite. Seems to be a great gun (dis/assembly is kinda weird it seems though) and the threaded barrel is just icing on the cake.

Love my M1 Garand as well. I actually am not far from Ohio so I ended up going to the CMP North Store while looking for cars earlier this spring. It's a field grade but was the best one there, 2+/3+ for muzzle/throat erosion. Probably the best $525 I've ever spent; I had wanted one for years cause of the cool factor and the history behind it.

I ordered it from a dealer called F&S Tactical on gunbroker. Russian M44's were out of my price range. I don't have alot of extra $$ for my new found hobby, so a cheap gun and cheap ammo were what I was looking for. Anyway, looking around, a lot of the Type 53's were running about $130-150. I got mine for $150 + $35/shipping. What sold me was that the shop said they had already inspected the rifle, disassembled it, and cleaned out all the cosmoline. According to their description, the stock is in good shape with no cracks, the bore has good rifling with no pitting. At least this way it won't be as much of a crapshoot as to what I will be getting.

I just sent off my payment a couple of days ago, so it will be a week or two before I get it.

I broke down this weekend and got a Glock 26. Wow, I think I'm in love, and I've found my new EDC! I can comfortably carry a G19 IWB, but the weight and size of it is always noticeable and I feel like I need to be conscious of printing especially when wearing a t-shirt. The G26 fits the holsters I already have and you can barely tell it's there. Light, and small. I haven't really found any normal motion that makes it print. And with Pearce mag extensions it fits the hand almost as well as the G19. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but I expect it will be great!

Ah ok cool.. Hopefully its a nice one. A few of my distributors have had them in stock for pretty cheap and I've been tempted to pick one up, but apparently a lot of them being sold are in really rough shape so i've been hesitant
