Glock is tolerable once you add the extended slide lock. The normal slide lock is just to small and difficult to grip. But, at least the field strip procedure is the same across the line.

.

I have no issues with the slide lock, but I don't have very big hands

Really? I still need to get one, but the few times I've handled one, 92FS, I SWEAR it felt as light as a feather compared to my USP 40.

its way heavier than say...a glock 17. Ive shot them back to back, its a heavy piece of iron in comparison

if course, it gobbles up the recoil that you feel compared to the glock

Have you tried the P30LS? If so, can you explain to me why they would change the procedure from the USP line? Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to install the takedown pin from a P30 if you accidentally take it out? Do you know under what conditions the take down pin will reinsert? Did you know the slide of the P30 will not lock back into place unless the magazine is removed after a field strip? These are all stupid idiosyncrasies that I found only through trial and error.

Aside from the P30 not needing to completely remove the takedown pin (which the manual says not to do in bright red lettering), I don't see how it's significantly different. Most modern autoloading pistol instructions don't want you to have a magazine in during the field strip process.

So...I have the bug again.....

Whats new and pretty for a compact (not sub compact) carry gun? DA would be good. No external safeties.

Walther ppq m2 is friggen nice. Easy field strip, sweet trigger, nice grip, the grip extends about 1/2" longer than glock 19, so it might not be consider compact. Gander mountain has them for 625$, gun shows have them for $525 with some room for negotiation. My wife just got one, we are putting it through its paces to replace her glock 19's duties.

I've been looking for a ppq locally so I could hold it but can't find it anywhere around here. The other one I've been looking at is the ruger sr9c

I have a glock 17 and a 92. The glock is more of a field weapon, its light, no safety, works even when damaged or full of sand, easy to field strip (no tools) and just accurate enough to save your life.

Berettas are good for the range. Reliable safety and decock, your choice of DA or SA, open barrel for cooling hundreds of rounds, replaceable grips for pleasing any shooter, slightly more accurate when in good condition, but can't take abuse as well.

If you hold the ppq you will most likely buy it. Something about it just feels "right" in the hand. I dunno, but I give them props on that. There are few handguns that just fit so right in the hand.

Well my Chinese type53 arrived today. Its listed as being in "good condition". Well i would say its more in fair condition. The stock is pretty beat up. The metal looks good as far as i can tell so far. But the stock, in my mind, brings it down to more of a fair condition. The thing is covered in cosmoline though. but broke it down and ran all the small parts through my heated ultra sonic cleaner which gets them pretty dang clean with just light wiping off being needed after. The barrel and action though ill save for tomorrow. Two screws are stuck and soaking in wd-40 for the night (all i had) to hopefully loosen them up. As it stands i cant even get them out and its hiding a ton of cosmoline in the trigger area.

Bit more work than i was hoping for, especially after my mosin 91/30 came practically cosmo free But should have it cleaned up tomorrow or so and then it goes into the archangle stock

Only downside with the PPQ is the price. Wife's already peeved that I spent almost $650 on my sr1911. The other one I've been eying is the Ruger sr9c

My wife came into the possession of a Tiffany charm bracelet with a set of charms. She so far has ignored quite a few of my expenditures ;p

Thanks for making my point. If you have to read the manual, then field stripping it is not intuitive and is different from the HK USPs that I own.

the ppq will most likely be the next gun I own.. I already have the PPS and love the accuracy and size of that gun.

Anyone know where you can find the 5" 9mm version of the PPQ? I can't find it anywhere. Does it even exist in the wild?

Field stripping is a trained process. It's not intuitive and never should be. I made no point of yours and "if you have to read the manual" is a ridiculous rationalization against managing a device that can project metal faster than sound.

Hickok45 seems to like it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckyUmldwiDo

Only issue I've heard about is that if the ammo isn't properly crimped it can yank the case right off the bullet when feeding a round. It's also pricey at the moment.

"Pricey" is an understatement...$1k is pretty steep (for me at least)

Not sure how much recoil a standard G17 has, but my G17C (compensated) has next to no recoil. It was my first firearm, and is still my favorite.

Do you guys buy ammo in bulk? How do you like them?

I purchased Winchester 9mm in bulk boxes (100 each) from Academy and in one of the boxes, 9 of them have rust spots all over the shell and 1 of them has a deep cut/deform between the bullet and the shell (right at the neck) - no way I will use it to shoot.

I just sent an email to Winchester and will post a pic or two later. Very disappointed with Winchester quality.
