Correct, but even retail boxes can be old or improperly stored. Most often old ammo has gotten wet at some point and rust happens.
At this point in time there should be no "old" boxes of ammo out there...hell there shouldn't even be any that was "improperly stored" for that matter, shit flies off the shelf almost as fast as they get it delivered, it shouldn't be more than a few days/weeks old at most to account for shipping time

Hmm I'm wanting of something odd ball.

Anyone know any break action revolvers in a more common 20th century caliber like .38 spl or .357 mag?

All I've seen are .22LR like the H&R 999 or .32 S&W.

A break open .38 spl even would be kinda neat.

There hardly was an ammo shortage. It was just resellers buying everything and flipping it on gunbroker and armslist.

True...my point just being what is on the shelves right now hasn't had the time to be "old" or been "improperly stored", it's going right from manufacturer to store shelf and out the door, Wally isn't buying from gunbroker or armslist.

That inventory is still moving. It's like the real estate boom. You have 3 million dollar homes worth like $300k because of all the nature damage they took on.

Do what? How does that relate at all to some rusted rounds in a box of ammo from walmart?

Got to shoot my AR15 for the first time today. Just steel targets, so I couldn't dial in my sights exactly, but I was hitting the target with every shot at 100 yards. Went through 100 rounds today and my wife actually enjoys it as well.

I need to fix my 870. It's not feeding the last round in the tube. I think there's a problem with the follower.

FTF on the last round is often the magazine spring or follower.

I have the urge to go buy the 10mm glock... must resist!

Question: Do you keep your mags loaded with bullets or empty when not in use?

In my handguns?
What good does an empty mag do in case you need to use it?

Loaded, with man-stoppers.

Unless I put it into storage like at u-haul, they dont allow ammo. Of course I woudlnt load them anyway, but still.

In fact if I ever do put my guns in storage it will probably be just the receivers, with a heavy chain or bar through them.

Keep the slides at home, or in another storage unit.

Uh oh, if you're thinking what I think you're thinking then I'll go ahead and make a preemptive strike :

No, leaving your magazines fully loaded will not hurt anything. Springs either wear out from cyclic use, crappy materials, or operating outside of their designed limits.

For guys with AR15s, how many mags do you have? Any preference on manufacturers/models? Reloading mags at the range is definitely annoying.
