Why stop there? May as well go with the set with the 224, 228 and 229 so you have the sequence. Going to be an expensive set though. But with that many you can try out the different triggers; DA/SA, DAK, SRT etc.

IMHO get good at one gun prior to moving on. For my sidearm, 9mm. I may be a Casull .454 for a shit hits the fan type of gun and I am considering a Ruger LCP for a pocket gun. I'd like a Springfield 1911 Custom as well on day. All of these should have ammo to be found when walmart gets nuked.

When I get into rifles, it will be a Mosin-Nagant, some kind of AK-47 in 7.62x39 and a .30-06 of some type I bet. I am banking on easy ammo when easy ammo is not on shelves.

Jockey shorts are not considered an IWB holster.

QFT, that said only an idiot would put major brass through their weapon and decide putting it in their pants a smart thing to do. There is a reason for range bags.

That would be .243, .270, 7mm, .30-06, and .300 win mag judging by Dec '12+. If you have an AR10, a .243 upper is a good idea.

For pistol I'd think .357/.38 and .45LC based on what has been on the shelves non stop.

.454 casul is a good choice because it can fire .45LC which was plentiful during the entire shortage. Also .45LC was originally a black powder round so it would be perfect for making your own powder.

I am focused on long term military rounds which you can find in bulk packaging.

Retail shelves just reflected what was selling and what guns people bought to fire off.

I was just being sarcastic. Also consider and AK74 for uber cheap ammo.

Hmmm...local (kinda) cop is selling a P226 in .40 for $500. I really don't like .40 but for that price I might strengthen up my wrists.

Man, TEN days since the last post?? Shame on all of us!!

Two things:
1- Palmetto State Armory is offering free shipping this weekend. Especially nice for ammo orders!
2- Can anyone recommend to me, for a 60-something man with arthritic hands, a good pistol for concealed carry/self defense?? He has a really nice semi-auto 9mm, but his arthritis makes it tough for him to jack the slide anymore. Also, pistols with a sharp recoil can really make his hands hurt too (for instance, my Glock 27, which fires .40S&W). I suggested a revolver, but wasn't sure, beyond that, what to suggest. Thanks!

For concealed carry a J-Frame or other sub-compact revolver in .357 magnum sounds like it would fit the bill. If his arthritis can't handle the magnums he can run .38 special or .38 +Ps that should do the job.

If he's willing to go into .380 most of the sub-compact .380s have pretty light recoil springs, especially once broken in (I draw my Sig P238 back with 2 fingers without much effort).

Id have to agree. Go for a revolver or a semi in 380. For reducing recoil just remember heavier helps over lighter...which is the opposite most people want. But a 38 special (or even 257mag) should work great IMO. You can find all sorts of loads for it. From the obvious 357mag to 38spl +P, normal 38spl, or even reduced load 38spl. Really has tons of option ammo wise to help. Not that a 380 or 9mm cant have different loads but seems like 38spl has tons.

I bought a Ruger American 22lr. Nice rifle and have high hopes on it. Wont get to shoot it till next weekend though. Ordered rings for it and they are taking way longer than i expected.

But i do have a cool new toy coming tomorrow so Ill get to play with it Sunday and give an opinion on it then

Well bit the bullet so to speak yesterday... Ordered all the parts to build another AR but will be a 300AAC blackout caliber since I have several boxes of ammo for one... I ended up with the ammo in a trade so I said what the heck it will be something different and very quiet...:sneaky:

I know what you mean! Any time I have spare parts or an unused caliber of ammo another upper magically assembles itself!

I put a Sig 716 (California compliant) in jail the other day... This to replace the one my ex had stolen from me, may she rot in hell (or Fresno, same difference). I've opted to go with an ACOG TA55A for the optic

Nice!

My 226 will be ready on the 8th. That is so freaking far away!

I need a time machine

I feel bad for you CA guys. Here it's walk into store, pay for gun, fill out paperwork, and leave with your new gun. Last one I was in and out in 20 minutes.

Thread related I picked up a Glock 27 a week or so ago. Trying to get rid of a Sig P239 to get a Glock 23 for the wife.

Yeah, this 10 day waiting thing is annoying. As are the 10rd limit and bullet button mag release.

12 gauge too. 12 gauge is EVERYWHERE. Even if it's only bird shot, it's better than nothing.

Try a Sig P938 if you can find one. It's a semi-auto 9mm, but racking the slide is very easy compared to many other semi-autos. Putting the guide rod / recoil spring back into the slide after cleaning is not fun, though.

On another note, I have a Sig P225 on the way from Gunbroker. It's my first GB deal, so I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. The money order just got to the guy today, but he apparently wasn't home to sign for it. And I still have to wait for it to get to the FFL, then go fill out the paperwork...

...the suspense is killing me!
