The GREAT part though? You apply in January. You get the permit in August or something. When was the permit signed and dated as approved? March. They're holding on to the permits for MONTHS just to play a political game.
O im sure they do. Like you sai it probably takes only a couple weeks then they just sit on it. But o well. I wont be bale ot use it (or any gun!) for that matter for a good 6 months now so not a big deal to wait.
I think the fact that I owned a gun casually came up. Welcome to Seattle, ultra liberal city and as such very anti-gun. People at the range are the friendliest people you'll meet. Outside the range, that I own a gun is a closely gaurded secret.
Guess it's a bit different on my side of the water. Over in Bremerton at least. Much more blue collar i would say and plenty of gun owners. Just no real place to shoot anymore >.< At work you'd have more luck finding someone with a gun than someone without one, and even worse luck finding someone who is anti gun.
Since there seem to be a couple guys from the Seattle area in this thread...
Any opinions on the local ranges/shops on where to purchase? I'm thinking Champion Arms since it's the closest range, and they throw in a range pass w/ purchase. I've not checked w/ them on their price/stock (.45 compact xdm, guessing it's not in stock).
Anywhere else I should consider? Looks like West Coast Armory has a decent price, but not in stock and I don't believe they offer the range pass.
For ranges i would say the one i like the best is Wades in Bellevue. Well lit, good ventilation, lots of lanes. Can shoot AR's in the members area as well. Only thing i dont care for is the 2-3 employees who "patrol" the range the entire time. Sometimes they can be cool (had one sweep a couple lanes worth of brass for me) and sometimes they can be a bit rude. Tons of guns to rent as well. The store....its not bad. Nothing special though.
Bulleye's in Tacoma is where i usually go just due to it being the closest to me. The range itself is pretty cheap to use. But its not as well lit as Wade's and the vent isnt the best. But it still does just fine for me. Only 12 lanes too so could end up waiting on the weekends. The store don below isnt owned by the range. They have some great guys in the store who are friendly and helpful. Plenty of selection as well. Usually isnt super busy but its more of a constant couple of customers.
Surplus Ammo in..lakewood i believe?...is a nice place as well. Small store and its always crowded when i go. but plenty of guns to pick from and a large selection of ammo. These are the same guys from surplusammo.com fyi. You can end up waiting for awhile though since it is busy.
