Yeah, I meant readily available :-D
There are gun shows twice a month here with similar prices and always in stock ;-)
This is what I actually wanted

but I had to settle for a beat up old iron model.
I can't find a 50 box of HST anywhere now that I actually want to buy some.
Gun shows here are mostly the resellers that camp Wal-Mart every morning then try to sell boxes and even Ziploc bags of 20-50 .22LR for $30.

That's nuts. For bulk ammo to make sense for me, it needs to within the low 100's for 500 rounds, low 2's for 1000. For 9mm. Can't believe the boxes of 1000 generic 9mm going for 400+ I keep seeing.
For 400, I can buy piecemeal from the range (what I consider the more convenient option) and get 1250 rounds (25 boxes bought at my own pace).
The only bulk I've seen at the proper deep discount was that Black Friday thing someone linked on the last page. Under 200 for 900 rounds of 9mm, I think it was.

I hate that crap (Monarchy shit) the wife and I went and shot every bit of that crap we had just to get rid of it in both 9mm & 45... Glad to be rid of it... I had jams in every weapon we shot it in even the xd9 and my SA 1911 which never jams... We had 2 boxes of each and was so glad to be rid of them... Started using the old reliable Winchester white box stuff and not one jam period...Went to the local Academy this afternoon and asked the clerk if they have any 9 mm in brass. He pulled out a few boxes of Monarch 9 mm 115gr FMJ for $13 per box of 50 rounds or $0.26/round plus sale tax. Did not know that brand was made in Serbia.
Were you shooting the Monarch brass? It's cheap shitty ammo in general, but I don't see why you would have feeding problems with the brass stuff. It's the coated steel crap that will stick in chambers.
I would not touch the steel case from any brand because most of the ranges around here would not allow them. Monarch brand is 4/5 star in the review. I will report later if there is any problem. I did visual check all the boxes and so far, no rust spot or deform at the neck as my previous white box of Winchester 100 rounds = http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=35507707&postcount=6039
9 mm Monarch steel case is $11 per 50 rds box or $0.22/rd plus sale tax.
@ Bart - darn. I saw at least 4 ARs with accessories. What brands are they? Must be nice to have money to buy nice toys.
Won't allow steel case or won't allow steel core ammo? Big difference. If they won't allow steel case that just makes no sense and is just so they can recycle the brass and sell overpriced reloads. Steel core can damage backstops and I it's fine to not allow it but not allowing steel case is just being greedy.
No steel ammunitions of any type are allowed is what I have been told, I did not dig further for details. Plus I am not crazy about them (steel ammo) from my research except the price.
Ditto... It can be very rough on the ejector itself too... Just shoot a few and look close at your weapon and the casings... Almost a no brainer "steel hard & brass soft"...Almost all steel cased or brass plated steel I've ever used has jammed in my guns. I dont touch it anymore.
