Well, might as well change things up a bit. Exciting week so far.

1- Got my new 91/30 "b-grade" Mosin. Its my first one and it's a 1927, Tula, Hex Receiver that is in great shape. Absolutely worth the $99 I paid for it.

2- Iowa introduced a bill that'll allow suppressors and it's getting tons of support, hopefully this passes so I can finally order one.

The punisher one isn't bad but that zombie one I like!
You can create an account with them and set it to notify you when they are back in stock, probably be a month or maybe less...I like mine and am looking forward to coloring it in and building it someday, of course I'm pretty happy with my PSA lower too, especially with the coloring job I did the other day:awe:

btw are there any specialized tools I should consider getting along with the my order? Anything to make the process easier is a bonus for me especially since I might be building a few more for friends in the future.
If you're not going to be building the uppers too then a castle nut wrench is pretty much the only special tool you should need...assuming you have a set of punches and other basic hand tools

AR wrench and vice blocks are about the only absolute essentials that can't be improvised or substituted for with common tools already on hand.

Special AR all in one wrench is required for buffer tube and barrel installations.

He linked a fully assembled upper, so none of those would be required, the castle nut wrench is nice but I put my first one together without one and used vise grips covered with tape to tighten up the nut...I will say that some blue loctite is nice to put on the castle nut to keep it from working loose though

Or use a strap wrench.

Honestly though, you should stake the castle nut with the end plate so that it doesn't work lose instead of using loctite.

The end plate is classified as a non-reuseable item when disassembling and reassembling a lower.

Seriously? I've never heard that before and can't imagine why it couldn't or shouldn't be reused...well unless you stake it that is

If you're not staking (hello Knight's Armament, stop using red loctite, thanks) then yeah, go ahead and reuse it. Or if you manage to get the castle nut to thread up with a different notch location.

But if you you end up with the nut at the same place on an already staked spot, it's not going to be a very good re-stake. Because when you're unthreading it you're using force to break the stake and it removes that bit of metal.

As long as you have a set of pin punches, and a small hammer (brass mallet is best, IMHO), plus some painter's tape and a set of needlenose pliers, you can assemble most of the lower receiver without difficulty.

I bought this AR-15 "armorer's wrench" from Amazon, and it fit the castle nut without having to do any modifications (like some other similar wrenches on Amazon reportedly have required).

I also bought this vice block, to hold the lower receiver while installing a couple of the items. Sort of nice to have, so you're not wishing for a 3rd hand to hold everything!

I haven't staked my buffer tube castle nut, but did put some blue Permatex on the threads before tightening it all the way.

If the mods want to move this to the Hot Deals area, so be it. But since I heard an interest in the Spike's lower receivers with special engraving, and saw this on an e-mail just now, I thought I'd post it here.

Joe Bob Outfitters has the Spike's Tactical Zombie lower receivers, blemished, for $84.95 + shipping (free shipping on orders over $90, so find yourself a filler)

They also have the Punisher (blemished) and Calico Jack (blemished) for the same price of $84.95.

These normally go for $104.95 for the unblemished models, so if you don't mind a minor cosmetic imperfection, I'd say go for it! My "blemished" lower from PSA was flawless, to my eyes.

No idea how this price compares to other online companies, so YMMV.

Not to shit on your post but aim surplus sells the unblemished ones for $89.95 shipped, think they are out of the zombie and punisher right now but they will get them again...a $5 discount, especially when it doesn't include shipping, isn't that hot

You have guns?

Yes, I only since I have turned older now. Prior was my martial arts and knowing how to fight, then OC sprays (Fox 5.3) and finally a knife (whatever was legal at the time and locking / one handed release).

I don't carry my gun nor OC spray daily. I always have my knife and my skillset. I am not going to try to win a fight, I am going to get away from a fight.

I am sure based on what you post you live a sheltered life and most of your experience is simply dry-firing.

Most of you esp carrying at work and at places that forbid weapons are why we have issues with gun ownership.

It's really funny you are going into specialized clothing for this.
