I'm not clear on exactly what Umarex even is (I had thought they were an importer), but I did confirm that I was wrong about the country of manufacture. P22's are stamped 'made in Germany.' I must've confused what I read about PPK production, which is definitely all US by the S&W factory. Previously in the US by Interarms, and before that, the more desirable German models.

The new ones sure FEEL extremely well-made. A stainless model is sex in my hands. But reliability is reportedly shit. I guess it's one of those dumb import law things. PPK's probably must be made here for the same reason that Glock had to produce the 42 in the US.

I had a hard time getting over buying an Exeter-made P239. But from what I can tell, Sig's quality issues are much more on a model-by-model basis, and as much as I want to, cannot be boiled down to 'German = good, US = poop.'

Which leads to the reason I opened this thread up right now, anyhow...can someone recommend me a place to buy grips for my P239? I would like to have another crack at making my own, but I don't think I wanna put the time in. Looking for either affordable (not $100+) wood grips or perhaps something else. I like Hogue's aluminum and G10 grips (and they make DAK-specific ones that properly delete the area for the decocker), but I can only find them through Hogue or otherwise at absurd >$100 list prices. $120 for a couple G10 compact grip panels....I mean, really now?

And I thought $80 for G10 CZ grips was dumb...

Try opticsplanet, they aren't a bad place to start.

Also, can anyone tell me how durable anodized grips are? My general experience with anodized parts would make me think that while they might not scratch super easy, a decent gouge or abrasion would leave a bare spot and no good way to fix it. At least with wood, you can fix stuff with sanding and application of more oil. And G10 is a matte uncoated material, so light damage is hard to notice. But coated metal = you're boned.

Anodizing is very hard, but also very thin. So it is fairly good at avoiding light scratches, but easily gouged. A scratch doesn't really need to be fixed; it's not going to rust like steel. Touch it up with a magic marker if you don't want a scratch to look as noticeable.

Same as all the other places: mostly MSRP, and not in stock ('7-9 weeks' ship time on Opticsplanet).

I'll just have to keep an eye on eBay. Considering some $50 Tulipwood ones (which are like $90-100 from Hogue).

That was one of the things that pushed me to the Extreme. I was going to upgrade the grips myself but I couldn't find anything I liked in stock at a reasonable price. OP was the only place that had anything nice.

Is this a little too gay? Says actual grips pictured.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hogue-Sig-S...806?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item54065546a6

I like that tulipwood is somewhat uncommon. Even if walnut and cocobolo were available for the same price, I might shy away from them because I hate to buy 'common' stuff when there are others available. Rosewood might be a third in popularity, but I do like those a lot, too. I guess I'm a fan of the reddish woods.

Hogue says their grips are hand-rubbed with carnuba. I dunno if that means they're not oiled first? If they're not, I bet a light sanding and proper oil rubbing would make the tulipwood look amazing.

I didn't have any issue with what he said. I had an issue with what you said,

which was, essentially, WRONG. Be specific in your answers, BRO.

Unless your 'eyeglasses' are rated as safety glasses (which is rare and most would know this going into a thread), they are not safe.

capeche? or are you going to keep fighting this stupid battle?

'Not rated' doesn't mean 'not strong.' Modern polycarb lenses are PROBABLY at least as strong as your average pair of $5 or less ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses.

But they're not intended for those purposes, and as such, no one is gonna bother rating them. Plus, I don't even know if you can rate just lenses; I think safety eyewear is generally tested as the whole design. Hard to guarantee the durability of someone else's frames and how tightly they hold the lenses.

Saying 'prescription glasses are definitely not safe' is silly, but saying that it's simply uncertain and needlessly risky to NOT simply use rated eyewear is obvious, yeah. Just sayin'.

Ugh...page 2?

Well it's a bad news/good news sort of thing but my gun collection just increased by way of inheritance. My wife's father died and she is bringing everything he had home with her, supposed to be a couple rifles, a couple shotguns and several handguns...she said some of them were weird and she didn't even know how to unload them Might be something interesting in the mix, I'll post some pics when I get a chance

I hate that place with a passion. All they are is a drop shipper from what I can tell. Every single time I've ordered something listed as in stock I get an email a few hours later saying it's out of stock and I'll get it in a couple of weeks. I don't even look their anymore.

Should have known not to get too excited...did a quick inventory last night and the results were less than thrilling. 2 Winchester 20ga shotguns, 2 Glenfield model 60's, an old pump .22 rifle, some other random .22 semi, a .30-30, Taurus 9 shot .22 revolver, Charter .38, a pair of Hi-Point's in 9mm and .45 and a little bitty .25 auto that looks to be a knockoff of the Browning design-which was the one she couldn't figure out how to unload since the mag release was on the butt

Although there was some ammo with them all too, probably 1000 or so rounds of .22, a couple hundred .45, 100 or so .38, maybe 100 .25 and a little over 200 9mm...but some of the 9mm he must have picked up at a gun show or some "friend" who reloads, they are cast bullets that are scary random shapes/sizes I won't be firing those, maybe somebody in my gun club will take them and pull the bullet and some of the cases could be reused

I'll take some pics when I have a chance but there's not much to see:\

You can just give those to me.

Aside from the .30-30 and the shotty's those are actually the nicest of the bunch, and being nearly a matched set (just different scroll work on the stock) I have a 2 and a 3 year old that will be very excited to have them in a few years

you can mail me that charter....

Yeah pretty sure that is going back to his ex-wife (my MIL), it's a little steel frame snubby and not in the best of shape, and she is in need of a little something to keep around..otherwise I probably would have sold it
