Thought I'd some of the shorties for posterity.

Ruger Blackhawk .357, Colt King Cobra .357, S&W 38 Special, H&R .22, Browning .22 Semi, Thomson Center Arms Contender, .223 barrel and a Paccy grip for weight one a .22 barrel for competition shooting, but not been used in ages.

I think my personal favorite that old King Cobra myself.

Picked this up on Friday, got to shoot it on Saturday. Definitely very happy with it (and the deal I got). Should make a fantastic backup carry gun or lazy day carry gun.

Ruger LCRx, 38spl +P

Like most makers of cheaper guns, Taurus is less a bad manufacturer than a victim of its target demographic.

That pistol is obviously beat to shit, and anyone with half a grain of sense would get it repaired before sticking live ammo in the goddamn thing. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it had been 'worked on' by an idiot who either assembled it wrong or tried to modify it.

Also of note, it's too bad that the cop didn't shoot himself in the face.

That was the Sao Paulo police, and they recalled 96,000 of the Taurus 24/7 DS pistols. It wasn't just that one gun, they had several that did that.

What was the cause?

What seemed odd to me was that the pictured issue would seem to indicate two different malfunctions. One being a defective firing pin block, and the other being a problem with the sear.

I wasn't saying Taurus was good, just that they seem to fall into the category of used, abused firearms that don't really scream 'Saturday night special' so much as just 'wore the hell out.'

Kinda like Beretta...who is a LOT better; but the M9 and related gets a bad rap from those issued one in the military after it's shot many thousands of rounds without proper maintenance, not to mention being used by Private Dickfingers to hammer tent pegs or some shit. Of course it's a piece of crap at that point.

I'm not a Beretta fan AT ALL, but comparing them to Taurus is pretty unfair. Beretta is known for having at least acceptable levels of quality control, customer service, and overall quality.

Taurus has none of those, just because they "copy" a lot of Beretta's designs doesn't mean they should be lumped together.

I like the looks of that, looks like my 38 Special with the King Cobra grips on it.

I currently do not have any Rugers, my father had a nice Stainless Stalker Mini-14 .223 I asked him about before he passed away, but unfortunately he'd sold it.

Wish I'd grabbed that thing used to shoot it quite a bit.

*edit* Actually I do have a Blackhawk, what was I thinking he he.

Good to see that an internet expert such as yourself was able to diagnose the problem with such conviction by looking at a grainy video of the slide and relying on his fanboy instincts.

How about a police armorer explaining the defect instead:

Went to a gunshow this morning. $5 to get in. Not much going on. 5.56/.223 was about $0.50 per round and 9 mm was about $0.40 per round (brass, not steel).

.22 LR bricks (525 rounds) were about $60 each. There were a few AK 47 style rifles (generic brand - GCS) but in .22 LR caliber for $550 each, very nice. If they were 7.62 x 39, I would take one home. Stripped lowers were $100 each, DPMS complete uppers for $600 each.

Those prices are all total ass. Gun shows are pretty worthless now. $800 SKS and AKs, $60 for .22LR like you said. Just squatters, flippers, and resellers now.

My LGS has a stainless Mini14 with some kind of laminate thumbhole stock. That thing looks awesome. Wish I had an excuse to drop $800 on it. :awe:

So I took the AR to the range again this past Friday hoping to get my stupid scope zeroed. Kept turning the "dial" and nothing would happen to the laser. Then I kept turning it and this happened

Me and my buddy laughed our asses off and hoped no one saw us
After about 5 shots using a rest, this was at 20 yards standing (max distance at this range)

Needless to say, I'm happy with it now

Heh forgot to take the cap off?

I cleaned my AR-15 and AR-10 this weekend. Really debating putting the Trijicon Accupoint 3x9x40 on my AR-15 and selling the Eotech 556. Then getting an upto 20x for my AR-10. I found an outdoor range in MN that has a 400 meter range. Or maybe Ill just keep the Eotech. Just like not needing a battery for my optics.

It's pretty comfortable to hold and shoot, plus it's super easy to carry. I had to decide between that and a Smith and Wesson Airweight, the Ruger was just nice (and cheaper)

More like I didn't realize it was a cap I kept twisting it thinking it was a dial lol

Unless you are trying to shoot tiny targets, 10-16x on the top end should be a good mix of zoom, brightness, and lack of mirage. 20x in affordable scopes is near useless because of the small amount of light passing through, mirage at distance, and graininess. Eotech is great for cqb so I'd hang onto it just in case you get another semi auto carbine/rifle.

If you are strictly benching at 400m a fixed mag optic like the weaver scopes may be cost efficient for you. Otherwise the price is going to be very high if you want clear, bright, and variable medium range. For extreme long range, check out tiborasaurusrex on YouTube sniper 101 and long range scope reviews playlists.

its not 'copying' when you buy the tooling and machines from beretta, they are true clones with QC being the only difference

They did change how the safety works though. It's frame mounted instead of slide mounted. And yeah, in general the QC is where you see the big differences.

Apparently I'm just a 'Taurus fanboy' according to someone above.

Despite the fact that I would never buy a Taurus nor recommend one, as there is better out there for the money. They're just not the utter trash that some people make them out to be. I'd certainly rank them over, say, SCCY or some of the other newer American manufacturers of cheap pocket crap. But below a lot of other foreign clone manufacturers.

...that's probably their biggest issue, really. They DON'T clone enough...they try and 'innovate' in a market segment where reliable copies would be much wiser.

I can't find the thread anymore, but on the firingline forums, I remember someone with a Taurus 357 revolver. It had machining marks all over the bore and cylinder, wouldn't fire reliably and Taurus didn't fix it correctly. I don't expect it to look as amazing as a S&W 29-2 that was taken care out, or even a current 29-10, but having VISIBLE machining marks is beyond terrible.

There are few firearms I advise people to totally avoid, but the Taurus guns make that short list.

Taurus' biggest issue is they are so inconstant with their products. Whoever is in charge of their QA should be replaced. I've worked with a bunch of Taurus(es?) and some have been really good but most were issue prone. You put that against a Glock (which I'm not a Glock fan),or S&W, or Sig, hell even Beretta, they have more failures, and in turn fall short on reliability, making people not trust them. That's their downfall.. not because they don't act like everyone else.
