And the real answer is loose in a plastic ammo can:\ Still not a bad deal for 500 rounds of .380 for $165 shipped but I think I'll look somewhere other than LAXAmmo next time, loose ammo is a pain to take to the rangeDepends on the ammo. I've ordered several times from LAXAmmo. If it's reloads, it'll probably come in bags. If it's new manufactured, it'll come in boxes.
I have plenty of pistols.
At this point my next purchase would likely be a 12 gauge.

Went clay shooting this weekend at a fun range. Now I want to get a 12g just for that.
But being anal about how things look and wanting a dual purpose (even if I never use it for anything else) 12g I'm getting the impression that getting a 24" barreled scattergun is bad. But since I'm not really serious about competing, eh... whatever?

All the page said was ammo can, was just hoping since it was new ammo that it would be in boxes too...still don't feel bad about the purchase, will just be more careful in the futureDo you have a link to the product on their page? They've been pretty forthcoming in the past about how it's packaged.
I'm with you, I use my trusty 870 Express for skeet and it works just fineI use my mossberg 500 with 24" barrel. It works for the casual, fun shooting i do. I find 75% of people at the range dont give a rats ass and are all about having fun. 25% think they are superior and take things to seriously and give you silly looks for using a pump action.
Im always in the boat of get what you want and what you can afford.
Just got this back from a buddy that reloads.
............... still dont have the sights on that V-Bob how i want them.......
~525 rounds of once fired brass reloaded for $100
Or you can just get another barrel and switch between them, put the long one on when you want to dust some clays and swap back to the short one when you get back homeSounds like we're in a similar situation. I want a shotgun for home defense that can do okay for skeet. I've decided that the best way to do this for the lowest amount of money is to get a high quality, short-barreled pump for the house that you'd bet your life on (I'm going with a Mossberg 500 Persuader, 18.5"), then buy something super cheap for skeet, even if it's made in China. Otherwise, it really seems like when you get a dual purpose shotgun, you pay twice as much and get the worst of both worlds.

Nice, are those .45's?

Everybody has their preference, I wouldn't want ghost ring sights (or really anything other "cool stuff") for a shotgun to shoot skeet, it would make it heavier and slower to move as well as getting in the way of seeing the clays...I wouldn't knock a cheap chinese gun for range fun, but I would still go for a basic model and a couple choke tubes and call it goodYes, you could. Or for like $300, you could get a Stevens with all the bells and whistles. Would I bet my life on a Chinese gun? No. Would I have a ton of fun with it? Yes. Here's where personal taste comes into play. On the cheap guns, you can get ghost ring sights and other cool stuff for next to nothing. This gets damn pricey on the big brands like Mossberg and Remington, especially if you buy another barrel for a Mossberg.
That's just my take. Swapping out barrels is a fine option, too.
Would be worth the strange looks at that priceThat they are.
Mags definitely look strange loaded with smurf bullets though.

If I was only taking one caliber I would agree, but taking multiple guns out I just want a couple boxes of each, a big ammo box of 500 rounds for one gun is a painI don't mind loose ammo, especially if it comes with a can. Makes it easy to just bring the can to the range and grab rounds out.

Who's arguingWhy are you guys arguing? You can get a mossberg 500 combo from big 5 for like $320 that comes with a 28" and an 18.5" barrel. Works for both home/tactical defense/ninja as well as skeet skeet skeet.

Probably in a store, web site shows $399 "regular price"...but you could order it from Bud's for just a little more, use the "make offer" button and might get it for $320...Not arguing, just offering an alternative opinion. But where the hell did you see that deal? I don't see it.
Pretty much, the front bead does a good enough job for me, couldn't imagine a ghost ring not getting in the way but everyone's eyes are different...though if you wanted to shoot slugs that ring would definitely be a benefitSo I thought the same thing about ghost ring sights: that they were just tacti-cool. But everyone is different, and in my case, they really do help my eye focus faster. It's almost magical. But that said, I'm willing to bet that with enough practice, anything will do the job.
WussShooting 12g out of a lightweight short barrel pump is pretty punishing on the shoulder, I wouldn't want to shoot more than a dozen. As cool as pumps are, semi-autos are just way more practical and comfortable. If you want to shoot clays all day get a 20g semi instead - cheaper ammo, more comfortable to shoot.
