Hey, I got some .223 reloads in a zip lock bag that I didn't use on my last outing. Its been a few weeks. How long will the rounds stay good? They aren't sealed with wax or anything. Do I need to go shoot them?
You should go shoot them just because it's fun

But in all honesty they aren't going to "expire" on you or anything, tomorrow or a couple years from now they should be fine

Thanks, and yes, perhaps I should go shoot them. I haven't shot groups in a while...

Unless you plan to dunk them in water or oil I think they'll be fine for years. I reloaded a big batch of .223 and 9mm last Christmas that I'm still working on.

I have some old ammo for my Mauser and my Garand that is from the late 1960s at the latest....they've all gone bang on the first try.

I had some 8mm from the 30's a while back. It all worked. I also use to have some WWII .45 ammo, it was a little smokier than modern ammo, but it all went bang.

Why is there not one single pic of a dickbutt lower receiver? I mean, they can't even post the goddamn image they're engraving?

Shoddy business practices, right there. Considering Reddit is probably giving them more business in one day than they'd typically get in multiple months...

Can anyone recommend a decent in-home rack/case/storage unit for 3-5 long guns, 1-2 handguns, and some ammo?

A safe isn't off the list but a lock isn't required atm, its a child free home with limited external access. I'm not saying its not possible but it'd be highly unlikely for intruders to enter the home. That said something that doesn't require drilling into the walls or the floor would be a bonus.

So I decided my belly band wasn't really doing it anymore and decided to get a couple top-shelf holsters.

For my SIG I got the horsehide White Hat MaxTuck. The Crossbreed Supertuck gets all the credit for the SIG Pro and is pretty expensive...the White Hat is a little bit less so, with the added bonus of being able to swap out the kydex sheath for different pistols. They listed their average lead time of 3-4 weeks, mine was shipped out in 8 days. Hit a snag, though...my 9mm has a loaded chamber indicator that isn't present in the .40 versions or the early 9s. If my SIG was loaded it wouldn't insert fully (unchambered for the pic). Emailed their support and sent some pictures, next day they say they'll send me a new kydex . I expect it might take a couple more weeks to get. Other than that, it's very comfortable. The leather backing is nice enough I could manage wearing without an undershirt. Regrets? Should've gotten the combat cut, but I should be able to do that myself if I really want to. Also ordered it a day before their 20% off Memorial Day sale. >_<

For my M&Pc I went with the G-Code INCOG, just arrived tonight. This was designed with consulting from Travis Haley and has some really nice features for the price. The fuzz is just smooth enough, the retention is perfect and the belt clips are amazingly secure (almost too much). Regrets? Should've gone with the full guard that would've covered the entire slide.

Their factory went through a move this year through April and I ordered just as they were finishing. Their original turnaround was 4-6 weeks and with the new factory they hope for 1-3 when settled. Problem is they were apparently backlogged up to 12-15 weeks and weren't communicating it that well to customers so they were blowing up their phones and Facebook page for a while. I decided to be patient. My wait time was a little over 9 weeks, but entirely worth it.

Where can one buy AR ammo at a good price? Also is there such a thing as 'self defense' AR ammo i.e. hollow point?

What do you consider a "good price"? You willing to shoot steel case bi-metal jacketed ammo or just brass? What kind of quantity would you be willing to go for?

And yes there is hollow point .223/5.56

I'm not sure. Whatever you think. Yeah, I would be willing to shoot steel I think. What price should I be looking for per box for brass and steel?

If you can find it in stock Wal-Mart sells Tula steel case .223 for $5.19/20, best I've been able to find locally in brass is $8.99/20, more often $9.99/20...at AIM Surplus you can get Wolf Gold, which is brass for $6.99/20 plus shipping, drops to $6.79/20 plus shipping if you get 1k...shipping on 1k is ~$26 so around $365 total for bulk

Ask and you shall receive.

Brand name, new ammo (not reloaded), and brass, not steel.

Any reason you don't want M196?
I'm not sure why you'd want to fire tracers in a self-defense situation, unless you're looking to give away your position.

Standard M192 ball or M855 is fine. Shouldn't be more than 35 cents/round for either one. Shot placement matters more than what ammo you buy, ultimately.
