About a week since anyone posted...?

Run out of guns and bullets...

I got another one I'm working on but ya gotta guess what it is...?:\

I got a new Black Nitrite BCG from Noveske to test out. I'd post pictures but this place is pretty anti-AR, though I do think the Noveske cross looks pretty awesome in the ejection port. The BCG does run like a champ, not sure if it's that big an improvement over the standard outside of cleaning it, but it does feel smoother.

I figure if it continues to go bang whenever I want it to, it could be a decent truck gun.

Two new suppressors got approved this weekend. Now I just have the longest wait of all: USPS delivery of the stamps to my dealer.
I keep see-sawing on whether to get a Liberty Cosmic from SilencerShop. Looks like they make it really easy to do there, including getting a trust. It's just quite a bit of coin, but at least it's a very versatile suppressor.

Looks sexy to me. I love AKs in wood furniture. I have a Romanian WASR and while I've changed out some furniture on it, it's been a damn fine gun. I don't recall it ever malfunctioning and it's very accurate. The mags wobble a bit, steels ones anyway, but I don't care about that.

I'm guessing $400-500ish? Haven't seen a huge amount of AKs but the furniture on that is worn and the finish has seen better days...definitely got a lot of use by previous owner(s). Probably with surplus ammo. But as far as an AK goes, if it still goes bang it's worth every penny. That's what they were ultimately made for.

I'm still mulling over my next purchase...focused a lot on tech last year. Been wanting to build an AR but could go for the right AK. As already mentioned, this place tends to bitch and moan about too many people buying those. Not like they should care.

Silencershop is who I get all my cans through, they make the process a breeze. The two cans that just got approved are a SilencerCo Warlock II (22LR) and an AAC Ti-Rant 45M. I am going to wait for both stamps to show up in the mail, as they were actually approved a few days apart, then I can go over to my dealer and pick them up.

The liberty cosmic looks awesome though, it would be a hard choice between that and the SilencerCo Hybrid. Too bad Silencer Shop is no longer a SilencerCo dealer (they got caught selling below MAP pricing).

The AK was $550 out the door, which is about average for that rifle, though I would have preferred to pay less.

Found these at a garage sale today. 2010 manufacture, fully working (had five, set one off in the backyard to make sure). Not a firearm, but a cool find.

I picked up two cases of 7.62x39 at my local ace hardware today. Had a couple of 10% off ace rewards cards, which put the price lower than it would have cost me to order it with shipping.

Curious to know what you paid...and is it only me that didn't know Ace sold ammo???

Our Ace hardware is the biggest FFL in our side of the state pretty much, with millions of dollars in inventory. Half of the store is sporting goods, the other half the Ace Hardware. The sporting goods side is actually a bit bigger than the hardware side.

After the 10% off per case, it ended up being $242 a case, for Wolf. Cheaper than ammoman, but I could have maybe saved $10 if I shopped around, but it would not have been the same ammo. Not too bad for not shopping online.

Recently I picked up:

- 10,000 223
- 5,000 5.7
- 3,000 308
- 1,000 10mm

Obviously I won't be able to shoot that much for maybe years. How do you guys deal with long term storage? I'm running out of space.

I'm tempted to just keep them the way they came (in cardboard boxes) as opposed to breaking them open to put into ammo cans.

I have shelves in my basement (cool and very dry), and I just leave them in boxes.

I use ammo cans. I have around 5k 556, 1k 40.

I have my smaller boxes in ammo cans, and if it comes in a workable sized and shape box it can stay in that

Think I am going to have to find a different place for my ammo...? Have been putting most of it in the safe but I have run out of room and yes I have a big safe but darn... I do not want to put any in the main closet but I do have my shop which is rather large...? (30'X56')... It is not heated or cooled but is insulated pretty good...?

I wonder if I should buy another safe and put out there and put most of my spare ammo in it...?

Why do you think your ammunition needs to go in a safe? It is generally recommended against storing it inside a metal container anyway in case your house burns down and the container becomes a giant bomb.

Moisture is really the only thing you have to worry about. Just don't pile it up on the ground where moisture can come up from the concrete (assuming that is what your shop floor is). Aside from maybe some slight tarnish, any modern ammunition will do fine on any storage shelf or cabinet. Throw a goldenrod, silica can or other gun safe moisture control item in there if you want to play on the safe side.

I guess if you live in an area that is really humid, then you'd have to compensate for that.

Personally, I have a shtf, keeping this forever storage of loose ammo in smaller plastic ammo cans to prevent pressurized explosions as well as keeping the weight down for transportation. Then I just have a whole lot of boxes just on shelving I built above my safe.

Ammo doesn't work that way. Ammo without a chamber in a fire will just spit the primers out and fizzle.

I'm aware of how loose ammunition will react when ignited unsupported, but I would think that a sealed container (ammo can or safe with fire seal) would also mean that the gases that are produced will create a pressurized metal container.

I'm happy to be educated though, and have read that the seals might cook off before the ammunition would reach ignition point and maybe the pressure wouldn't be a problem, but haven't been convinced well enough.

Kelvrick... I dunno but I sure would think that ammo that is in a safe with heat protection should do the trick...? Besides my shop is or has very little that can burn to begin with also... I just do not want all the ammo that I have in my home and putting in my shop would or sounds like a good idea... Oh and a couple or so of my weapons would fit too......
