Shall I get more 5.56/.223 ammo? 32.2 cents per round price (shipping included) is tempting.

That's a decent price for these days though not a killer deal. I'd say it wouldn't hurt if you've got the extra cash.

I want to pick up some more 7.62 x 39mm myself; I thought I had much more than I do. Thankfully I can still pick that up for less than $6/box of 20 at Walmart. :awe:

And amazingly enough, I've seen .22 LR at Cabela's the last two times I was there. Until recently, you couldn't even find it anywhere around here and when you could, it was insane prices (last gun show I went to a few months back they were selling 550 round boxes for $80). I've picked up two boxes of 500 rounds when I was there the last two times, and I don't have the receipt in front of me but they were $35-$40 which isn't bad these days (I don't think we'll see the $20 525 round boxes anymore ).

Those are brass, not steel case ammo. Anyway, I did some changes and lower the price to .321 per round.

Speaking of .22LR, you might want to try the local Walmart and Academy stores. I did have some luck there. PSA has some for about .08/round on sale right now ($38 for 500 rounds plus shipping).

Ughh.. been meaning to get a suppressor for my new 300 blackout rifles but been slammed at work for the past month. Finally start looking at week ago and realize this new ATF rule has everything out of stock due to people trying to beat July 13. Guess I'll be a guinea pig under the new system.

I occasionally check Walmart and haven't seen it there for several years (at least the couple stores I go to).

I gotta finish cleaning the cosmoline out of my M48. I got it out of the stock with a heat gun and then wiped down the stock quickly with a Simple Green/water mixture (probably 75:25 ratio of SG:W) and man the stock came out clean.

I then dumped nearly boiling water all over the receiver and down the barrel but all that did was make the cosmoline soft. From what I've read I thought it would just rinse right off the receiver and out the barrel. It wasn't a rolling boil, just beginning, but it was certainly above the melting point of cosmoline at 125 degrees F. I then took some brake cleaner to it and gun cleaning solutions but with all the little nooks and crannies in the receiver it's impossible to get truely clean, even with repeated q-tip swabs. I've ordered some longer length cotton swabs that'll hopefully help but I wish there was an easier way.

With the new ATF regulations going into effect in a couple days, should I pay the $200 and register my PSA lower as a SBR? It's currently a PSA 16" rifle, but figured it might make sense to submit the application now under current rules while the process is known.

Already have a .300 blackout build submitted and the PSA is currently my only regular size AR (well, my only AR other than the .300 blackout pistol waiting on a stock).

Yes... yes you should. At worst, you'll have the paperwork in and be on your way towards a legal shorty.

Who in here has an AR15 pistol? NOT SBR but pistol (short barrel and non adjustable buffer tube stock). If you do, how do you like it? Pros and cons?

I have two new optics showing up this week. 1st is for my M16A4 clone, I have a TA31RCO ACOG showing up, lightly used but tritium still is running strong (about a year old).

I also have a Vortex Sparc AR red dot coming, and I am trying to decide whether I want to put it on my AR pistol or my colt 6920. I am leaning towards the colt right now, I would like to get the scope off of it and shed some weight.

Please bear in mind that really poor ammo can (over a long period of time) damage your gun.

But I think that mostly applies to Tula/Wolf stuff.

We can't get SBR's here in California, so I got it just to see what it is like. Now, it is a complete novelty and I combined it with a "flash enhancer" to have a little fireball thrower. Once I move out of state, I'll get a real sbr with a real stock.

I shoot almost exclusively tula and wolf because its cheap and for $50-80 savings per thousand more than makes up for any increased wear over any replacement parts compared to brass ammunition. A very small percentage of shooters actually shoot enough to wear out their guns. Be it with steel case or brass case.

I have had a couple (sold one last week). They're not my favorite to shoot as I personally feel like they're just awkward to fire like a pistol. I built the first one to become a SBR and then just got lazy. The second I build because I had the parts lying around and needed to do something with them before a buddy helped me clean my workbench. If you get one of the braces they're better.. but you really have to be careful (legally speaking) as it's just too easy to bring that brace up and shoot it like a SBR. YMMV

I previously built a pistol lower to test if I would like an SBR or not. I did not understand the difference between a muzzle brake and a flash suppressor back then (gun noob, did not grow up around guns), so I had a 7.5" pistol upper with muzzle brake built by JSE.

That thing was stupid loud and shot fireballs. I promptly disassembled the upper and sold off the pieces, because it was just too impractical. It made grown men laugh like children after shooting, though

If you can jump through the hoops and spare the cash, a 10.5"-12.5" barrel length SBR with suppressor is great. Great overall length and weight distribution, having a stock makes a huge difference, the barrel is not too short, and it's quiet

Ughh. ATF rejected one of my SBR applications because I got serial number wrong. Tried to resubmit yesterday but the eforms site was down all day. Couldn't get mail out so I guess I'm stuck with this new system nobody has figured out yet.

I've got an AR pistol in 300 BLK caliber. Built it last year for way cheaper than they were selling similar in stores/online. I like it a lot and am glad I have it. My only complaint would be the price of 300 BLK ammo; I don't shoot it nearly as much as I'd like to, but other than that I like it a lot and it works great.

To answer your question,
PROS: Small, fairly light (depends on what you put on it; I need to switch optics to lighten it up), does what a "normal" AR does up to a couple hundred yards.
CONS: Caliber expensive but this varies. No real cons I can think of though, besides it's probably not accurate at 600 yards but then again, it's a pistol.

I go through my forms several times before I submit. ATF will reject a form if it is not 100% perfect. That being said, I successfully eFiled my Form 1 on July 8 to convert my MPX pistol to an SBR. We'll see how that goes.

Me, and it sucks ass. IMO, there is no point in buying an AR pistol if you don't plan to convert it to an SBR ASAP. I bought a Sig MPX pistol and submitted my form 1 to the ATF as soon as I took possession.

Any suggestions where to put a vise in an apartment? I'm thinking of drilling holes into my computer desk.. I can clear off almost half of it to make the space. Or maybe I go with a foldable stand of some sort? Can finally begin to build the two lowers I have..

I have never needed to use a vise to assemble a lower, but you should be able to get away with a clamp on Vice like one of these - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0001LQY44/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468516424&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=clamp+on+vise&dpPl=1&dpID=4182XSKCFEL&ref=plSrch

Email Ted clutter, and see if he can get you fixed up. He helped me out with a mistake, had approval within hours after emailing him.

I have a SIG brace on my pistol and I don't see the issue with it. Works fine for me, anyway.

I buy those cheap made in Vietnam hardwood stools from Wal-Mart, Target, etc. $15 short wooden stool, drill holes in top to fit bench vise, bolt in place. Can easily store away when not in use, or even remove the vise and put a cushion on top to hide it was ever there.

Oh genius.. if I can find a folding stool then I could keep it on the balcony when not in use. No real room to have a random stool laying about.
