Dude that is sweet. I'd like a revolver too. Someday. I really like the S&W TRR8 model as well.

Something that is blowing my fucking mind. I'm having a quite difficult time finding a mil-spec AR-15 front sight assembly. The regular old thing that I can use with a detachable carry handle on a flat-top lower. Midway USA has one but you gotta drill and ream the holes, and same with the ones at Brownells... um, no, no thanks. Why would you have to drill and ream the thing when you already have to choose the right version for your barrel (0.625/0.750) anyway? I can't frickin believe it, even eBay is failing me. I just can't believe how much I have to search for such a standard (in my mind, anyway) thing. I know a lot of people use flip up sights now, but come the frick on!

Might want to post in the Ar15.com retro forum http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_3/123_AR-15---M-16-Retro-Forum.html

Found this website: http://www.sherluk.com/m16f.php But I dunno a thing about retro AR's

Not all barrels are made equal, even with specs. It's the same reason why you sometimes see headspace issues.

I see that the gun store in the city I used to live in is open until 8 PM so I'm gonna go there after work. They have a ton of AR parts and I actually bought a few for my AR pistol there when I built that so I'll see what they say. The only bad thing is they're a little pricey but if I can't find the dang thing online so be it!

I "somehow" ended up with an ACOG over the holiday sales.. so I guess I need to build something to put it on.

I hate it when that happens. A few months ago I discovered a muzzle break in my workbench. It was a nightmare as I rushed to get the rest of the rifle built around it. When I think of that poor break, just sitting there... all alone.. man, it breaks my heart

Picked up a new addition to the collection today.

It's a Spanish Star Model BM pistol in 9mm from 1980. I'm not going to do a thing to it except maybe put on new grips. I think the wear on it is perfect and helps to show this pistol has a history.

Oh man that is very nice! I think it would definitely be cool to leave it as is (grips might be ok), Usually, to me, natural wear just makes a firearm look even better.

Well I guess I'm gonna have to order a front sight base assembly that's not drilled and tapped cause that's all that appears to be available. I drove 45 mins one way after work last night to see if a local gun shop had any but they did not. I guess when I built the AR pistol it used flip-ups so I didn't have to deal with a FSB, and the old FSB on my carbine I removed to put a low profile gas block and rail on. I just assumed you bought them like every other part and just put it on yourself. I suppose I could see if I still have my old FSB laying around but I don't think so. So now I gotta find a gunsmith to do this crap? Bleh.

Thanks guys! I took it out to the range today and put a little over 200 rounds through it - it was love at first trigger pull. I'm gonna need to jump on spare parts when I can find them (especially firing pins, springs, etc). Right now, a priority is finding the safety plunger and plunger spring, because I have neither of those - and consequently a non-functioning thumb safety.

Small update on my Star. I have the safety parts on the way, and I'm going to take her out to the range again on Friday. I also found the date code when I pulled the grips and removed the magazine safety - 1977! This gun is soon to be 40.

The new Kimber pistol in the wild...

I'm not the biggest fans of Kimbers.. Not sure why. They're mostly good guns, I just for some reason can't see the justification in price. It doesn't hold in resell, like other brands. IDK.. just something about them makes me go 'meh'

I'm not a big 1911 fan, so I don't have an opinion of them.

I do kind of like revolvers, nice to see a new one on the market.

I don't disagree with that. I'm a little surprised they're going into that market. I dont' currently own a revolver anymore. I sold it to someone that needed it more than I. I haven't replaced it yet as I didn't really shoot it much. I like them well enough as they're as simple as one can get with a pistol.

Magpul Pmag Gen 2 vs. Gen 3. Is it matter? I can get Gen2 for $8/each out the door.

Massive toothache, mindfulness exercise helps.

5 yards, 5, 7, 10, 15. Trying to work on increasing my speed, I also find I tend to flinch the longer I shoot.

I vaguely remember something about Gen 3 working better with some non-standard AR rifles like the SR80 or the SCAR.. but I can't remember the details. I can tell you that I can't tell the difference with any of them in my weapons. I've around 20 or so and would have to break out the guide to tell me which is which gen.

I've got the model 30. Love it. Took my CWP range test with it.

I shoot fantastically with it. I plan on taking the Texas LTC class and qualification with it. I do have to modify the safety (or buy one to modify) because it's not fully engaging the plunger when it's on.

Well now that I had my two Christmases and am back downstate after spending my second one in the U.P., I wanna get going on my classic Vietnam-era AR build. I gotta bring the barrel and front sight assembly into a gunsmith to get it put on but after that I can do the rest myself. Man this thing will look so frickin cool, I can't wait!

Today's my birthday, so I went out and looked at some guns. LGS had a used Dan Wesson Model 15 .357 with a 6" barrel.

I put it on layway.
