Bah, didn't mean to click that Breitbart link lol. I haven't seen an 80 percent lower that's cheaper than just getting a stripped PSA lower on sale. I thought about going the easy jig route for the satisfaction of DIY, but there are only so many ARs a man that wants to stay married can have.

Edit: Went to the source, I guess if it's no questions asked they mean it!

The cheapest I’ve seen 80% lower receivers is around $50, how much do you get at buyback programs?

According to the article, "$100 for every handgun and $200 for every assault weapon."

But that guy turned in a piece of scrape wood zip-tied to a pipe, penciled in the words "Hi-er Point" on the side, and got $200. I think I can mass produce those and get some of that sweet gun buyback dough.

It is actually fairly common to do, here is another - https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/22/5-homemade-shotguns-handed-100-gun-give-back/

The more that people can scam these stupid buy backs the better.

I am such a fucking fucktard.

Elite Shooting Sports has been open 4 years and I just found out about them this week.

That is the nicest god damn range I have ever seen in my fucking life.
The staff was great, they have a nice store, some of the prices were even reasonable!
The range is awesome. The parking is fucking excellent. They even have a cute little cafe.

I saw an article a while back about "guntry clubs" and that was one of the places in the article. Thought about checking it out, too long a drive from where my in laws live unfortunately.

We have a nice range nearby which is clean/sterile and relatively impressive (http://www.nexusshooting.com/). A lot of people love it, but I HATE the electronic targets on one side of the range. To me it feels like shooting an air rifle at a carnival (even though you're shooting your own gun). I dunno, it's hard to describe, but it cheapens some of the gravitas one should feel when squeezing the trigger of a deadly firearm when you're popping shots off at cartoon zombies.

The range shorty posted is amazing if only for the rifle lanes. There is no indoor range anywhere near her with longer than 25 yards. There are only a couple outdoor ranges and they're more trouble than they're worth. I actually got rid of a M14 rifle a few years ago because I had nowhere to shoot it for real and popping targets at 25 yards with it was a snore.

EDIT: Air quality and air conditioning are huge factors in a range's quality. We have a Bass Pro / Outdoor World near us with an indoor range. Walked through the range at lunch one day and noticed they had thermometers for the temperature on the lanes. It was like 96 degrees in there. No circulation whatsoever. Gross.

My range isn't bad, great AC, just wish we had more than 25 yards to shoot. There is an outdoor range nearby but the hours are such that I'd have to take time off work to use.

I am pretty partial to my rifle range, shown in green and brown on this map.

We have a local private range that is $50 a year, but i am not a member. I just go innawoods or out in the BLM wastelands and shoot there.

That is a great map, but I am not sure how accurate it is. A lot of it is owned by warehauser or other timber companies, watershed, restoration, closed due to fire damage, camping and other recreational activities, ecological studies and whatever other BS they can use to close it off. I recently got a map of BLM and Forest Service land that hat has a shaded areas of where you can shoot on public lands, and is much more limited. Used to be A LOT more.

You can shoot in timber land, I shoot all the time on some owned by forest capital, and no one says anything.

The other issue is enforcement, we only have one federal LEO for the east side of the state, so he is a bit stretched thin. Its only limited if you get caught . This is especially true when finding new and creative areas to take a mountain snowmobile in the winter.

I saw a video of this place a while back. I'd love to check it out. I can kind of get what you're saying about the carnival feeling. I'd still think it'd be a great thing to do though. The air quality of the place must be amazing. I hadn't even thought about it until I saw the video on the place that the creators were talking about getting lead poisoning. Made me really think about the ranges I've been in. Sadly the ranges in Az aren't that great. Even the range in Scottsdale, which you would expect to be on the level of Nexus, is just another 70 feet same old same old. The most interactive part of the place is using a timer to flip the target between it's side and shootable. A pretty sad showing compared to Nexus. I'd love to open one of them out here. I know it would make a killing.

So far with around 500 rounds: no malfunctions.

This one on the other hand, just not running right. Waiting on a heavier buffer, new spring, and different ammo to troubleshoot.

I had to sell my favorite Ruger back in January due to financial woes. I was able to pick up a nearly identical one a few days ago, though, and it has become part of my EDC rotation.
