I've always heard good things about Geissele actually. I think my bro might have one in his AR and he likes it. But I have no experience with them (I might've shot his AR once with it in, can't remember).

Yeah, there is the State lines advantage to the pistol route. I'm not too worried about that though. It would be a rare case for me to do that; the only reason being that I'd be taking it to an out-of-state training class which case I'd maybe just take the 300 BLK pistol if it was going to be a problem with the SBR.

No particular reason for the upper I was looking at. I think around a 10.5" - 11" would be ideal for me. I think I heard John Lovell of Warrior Poet Society said something like that, or he enjoys that length, and I figure the guy knows a thing or two about shooting. Plus at 10.5" - 11" range you don't lose a ton of the potential speed/power of the 223/556 round. You can definitely shoot out to hundreds of yards at that barrel length and make hits.
Just curious. I have a 10.5" pistol. Fun, but if one was looking for something that felt like an SBR (as in significantly smaller), it's not a huge difference. But what's nice is once you've got the lower squared away, you can always swap out and try other uppers. My current favorite AR is my 8.5" blackout pistol.

Nice, thanks for the info.

Yeah I built a 300 BLK pistol that's pretty slick. I don't remember the barrel length; prob like 8.5" or 9" if I had to guess.

The only thing about it I don't care for is the compensator I have on it; makes it loud as fucking hell and I hate that. I think I'll put some sort of flash hider on it, particularly one that could work with my can (I think I need an adapter too).

Orrrrrr... I just screw the can I have on there "permanently" and get another one that I can swap between my other firearms. :-D

I finally picked up my Bren 2 pistol. Photos and videos to follow.
Am not loving it.
First off I paid for the FDE and they sent me a black model, and as we all know brown is better than black.
2nd the magwell is perfectly fitted for a CZ mag which means I am struggling to get STANAG mags in there. But they do seat properly.
The iron sights are kinda crummy compared to the Scorpion sights but they wont let customers buy those online. I'd have to buy a whole damn Scorpion just to get those fucking sights.
And the pistol grip compartment is TINY. Barely worth having it.

Will shoot first thing tomorrow morning and see how it is. I may sell the thing back and buy a Bren 2 rifle this summer when they hit stores.

Just put the first 120 rounds through it, no malfunctions. BRN-180S upper. pretty happy with it.

shorty, that's a bummer! I think they stopped making them. I read at some forum that new Scorpions are coming with polymer sites. I'm holding on to mine with a kung fu death grip.

I got a pistol brace and put it on (sorta) and it moderately helped me shoot the Bren 2 MS. But I think I need to get an SBR stamp and put on a real stock.
OR, wait for the rifle to arrive this summer and buy that instead. As it is, this sucker is no good for home defense, sport shooting, or a minuteman course.

What about it with the pistol brace do you not like? My AR pistols, nothing really jumps out at me as a deal-breaker.

It doesnt handle like a proper stock. Doesnt help control recoil at all. Wiggles a lot thanks to the imperfect design of the gun itself. Makes rattling noise too. Mostly I dont like how it handles recoil. Need something better. LIke a rifle.

What are you shooting out of it? I've a couple of versions of a pistol brace on some ARs and with those (or normal stocks) I don't notice any recoil.. You have a spring and buffer tube?

Maybe you just don't like the Bren 2? Like with the BRN-180S, I don't think the recoil would be any different between using the pistol brace or a rifle stock. Comparing my AR rifle to one of the AR pistols, again, I don't notice much of a difference. Your gun though, you do you.

Guh I still need to do the paperwork (well I guess it's an online form) for the Form 1 for the SBR upper I wanna order. I'm just procrastinating and (honestly) forget about it. And it's too late tonight cause I need to get a couple games of Tarkov in, aka get wasted in that.

Good vid. Unfortunately, those that really need to watch it probably won't bother.

The level of gun safety in the general public is scary. I usually leave the range if someone else shows up.

Agreed on all points. Muzzle sweeps and eager index fingers are why I only shoot in unoccupied privately owned quarries now. I simply cannot relax and enjoy myself if I'm around strangers who are shooting, I spend too much time keeping a cautious eye on them.

Finding someone at the range who is well trained is not going to happen in most places. I must admit, if he looks like a reasonably safe shooter, and he is at the other end of the firing line, I will chance it.

Shooting with others can be great fun. One of the most exhilarating drills we used to do involved two guys moving between points of cover and engaging targets. The instructor would ask us to surrender our weapons and rig one to malfunction. The goal was to learn how to call for cover, provide cover, clear malfunctions, tactical reloads, etc.

It was under controlled conditions with a shooting buddy I knew and trusted. Never worried about getting shot.
