Bored so did some arts and crafts yesterday with some spray paint and a laundry bag. Haven't shot this one in a year, something like that. I took it apart with plans to change the handguard and stuff, decided not worth it.

Next time I think I can do a better job of it.

P226 is sold. I think he got a great deal on it.

Now my fail ass needs to fill out the Form 1 so I can order a shorty upper for my AR. My weekend goal.

Ordered 2 of these on 3/15 and they still haven't shipped yet...the website has said for the past weeks to expect a 15 day shipping delay...it also says that if you get an order number, your stock has been allocated which I did receive so I am still waiting....they said they have stopped answering phones so the phone people could help with the shipping..that is pretty crazy...

Apparently Jerry has moved from a J-frame to a 9MM.

Instructive 3 minute vid.

Draw fast, aim carefully.

I've never really watched Paul Harrell, but I found this video pretty darn informative. Paul covers most kinds of weapons pretty well and demonstrates them for those who might be new to guns.

He did manage to pack a lot into the video.

I guess the ranges are mostly closed. Only left with dry firing to develop that muscle memory.

You don't want it to be like when you get in to drive the wife's car, when you have to think about how to turn on the wipers etc.

first thing to invest in is an expensive optic.
I already have expensive stuff. This one is the cheapo step child.

edit: Should say "not budget budget" stuff as opposed to "expensive stuff." Holosun, Primary Arms, etc. No ACOGs here.

edit edit: SPARC II doesn't seem too bad though. At $125, the price is right. At the regular price, no way.

It's the first day of spring turkey season up here in North Idaho. I'm headed to the local gun shop for a full choke for my shotgun, some kind of call, a decoy and a box of turkey shells. I've never hunted turkey before, but I understand the theory. It will be nice to sit in the woods, even if I can't call anything in.

Best of luck. Sounds like you have some of the best stomping grounds around. Should be wonderful at the very least.

Post some pics if so inclined.

I like Paul Harrell. I stumbled across his 1986 Miami shootout video one day a couple years or so ago and thought it was fantastic so I subbed to him.

Want to sell my Mossberg 500 20 gauge with the intention of eventually getting a 12 gauge SBS. Hasn't been fired much and looks brand new still.

Still haven't done the Form 1. Fml

I went out scouting and stopped at a few places but saw no sign of turkey. Stopped, built a fire, grilled up some hot links, corn on the cob and mushrooms. Hit a few more spots and saw no turkeys, convinced I'm looking in the wrong places I headed home. On the way home saw a huge flock of turkeys on the side of the road in someone's front pasture.

I've lived here since 2008, but really don't know the forests and mountains too well. I'm going to have to find some local hunters to share their spots. Seems the turkeys aren't really up on the mountains or in the heavy woods, but in the fields and pastures closer to or on private land.

I did see lots of deer bones from where hunters had field dressed their past kills, so at least it wasn't a totally wasted trip. Now I know where to find deer. And grilling lunch out in the pine forest was awesome, took a nice nap in the sun.

Sounds like a great time. My hunting and fishing is skewed about 99% towards fishing. Any day out can be glorious.

Found this link, doubt that it will be provide new information:

Any serious thoughts on a .22 LR rifle for SHTF in a wilderness situation? Cost is a major consideration and the ammo seems abundant, affordable, a little lighter and more compact so you can carry more.

Another vote on the 10/22. They even have a Takedown model which is also supposed to be great and can fit in a backpack or something easier.

Super flexible rifle, super easy to shoot, and very cheap ammo (for lots of practice). Can be deadly vs two leggeds if it was all you had though I would rather have a centerfire for that.

Throw an inexpensive Weaver 3-9x scope on it and you're set!

Thanks for your input everyone. The 10/22 seems to be highly recommended. There are so many different models, parts and ammo this is more complicated than picking out parts and building a PC. It's even worse when I don't even know where and how to purchase everything. There are only a few smaller sporting good shops and pawn shops here and I can't travel to larger towns since they have more Covid-19 cases.

What barrel is best for being in the weather full time? Is it better and/or cheaper to purchase a pre-built modded gun or mod it myself? I have no idea what attachments I would need or want. Since I'm near sighted a scope is necessary and a couple larger mags would be handy. Are attachments to reduce recoil even necessary for a .22LR?

Also, are there any other guns with abundant, affordable and easily packable ammo I should be considering?
