Took my M&P sport AR-15 out for the first time... finally. It was my first time shooting rifles asides from plinking with a 22 (I usually shoot handguns and shotguns).

Only did 50 yards and couldn't do better than a 2" grouping using both iron sights and a red dot. I was surprised how hard it was to see and target at 50 yards without magnification.

Yeah, I'm pretty blind myself. I have a 3X prism scope for my AR and I can't see shit. LOL

I'm thinking of getting a low power optic too, preferably variable. My budget rifle has a fixed iron sight so I guess that means time for another gun?

Gun deals and ammo deals are particularly bad right now. I've managed a few ok deals on some competition type handguns but not much else. I can see why this thread has died down recently. I have managed to pick up a few items though during this horrible pricing era.

It seems like ammunition availability is ticking up a bit recently. I have all the .22lr and 9mm I need, it just cost too much. I picked up a Taurus TX22 for plinking and practice this weekend. The rear sight is junk, I have to ask for a replacement or put more expensive sights on a cheap gun. I think I'll email and have them send me a new sight before I spend $80 on something better. It does seem to shoot just fine though.

A buddy of mine bought one and I have shot it a couple times. Surprisingly nice gun.

Ammo availability is very good now, but prices are still about 2X what I remember. 9mm is about 40c a round, 45 is still around 50-60c a round. 5.56 is up around 75c a round, and you can't find 300BLK almost at all unless its a reloader.

I haven't been shooting much and have just been sitting on what I have. Bought a bunch of stuff at the end of last year and built a few new rifles but nothing since then.

I'm hoping that ammo prices come back down another 20% or so by the end of the year.

Ordered a red laser for my .22 pistol so I can be full ghetto with it. It's not accurate enough with iron sights to be used as a pest control device, but I still may get a silencer for it. After my application goes through.

I'm at the point now where I will only buy decent ammo, no cheap Tulammo or cheap .22 that just ends up jamming anyway. Had about 15 jams on some CCI Blazer .22 last night in 100 rounds. It was good practice clearing the jam for my wife though.

I have the TX22. I was one of the first with a barrel problem. I got it replaced with the same barrel issue. Basically the rifling inside wasn't even on the first few batches and so it fouls up fast. It still shoots, but not accurate at all. Supposedly they are suppose to ship me one when they get extra in stock of the fixed barrel but.. it's been years now I think. It functions all the time at least. It feels good in the hand too. Just the moment I shoot a magazine I am having to pick out lead bits from the end of the muzzle every time though.

I've been finding .22 lr bricks in Walmart again. Picked up several 300-350 round boxes for about $17 a box roughly. Decent enough price. Have seen 5.56/.223 rounds all over the place but it is ridiculously expensive. Thinking it will be another year at least before ammo prices and stock are stable again.

At least gun prices are coming back down to earth. Seeing pre-vid prices on many pieces that I thought I wouldn't see again truth be told. Even picked up a few nice pieces. Grabbed a CZ Shadow 2 for under $1000, a P320 Legion for under $900, and a Walther Q5 SF for $1200 as well. Several items I didn't I would see in stock anywhere again. I have been at least using the blue label program for Glocks which is nice for good prices on though.

Its been a while since I have posted, but here is the last couple of projects -

First up is the new Nightforce NX8 4-32 and hunter stock I put on my tried and true Remington 700 AAC-SD -

And this one I just finished, it started off as a basic Ruger PC Charger, added a folding brace, holosun, tandemkross trigger, tandemkross game changer pro comp (for when I am not using the can), tandemkross mag release, tandemkross extended bolt handles (both types), odin works AFG, magpul MS4 sling, and crimson trace light kit -

Fits nicely in the outside pouch of my laptop bag.

That is a real neat kit with the barrel detachment. Haven't seen that before.

Picked this up new this week, a 4" S&W 617 in .22LR, to which I added a set of VZ round to square conversion grips, and a new high viz fiber optic front sight.

Spent about $500 on ammo this week total. I wish I could say I stocked up, but that will last me a bit. 17HMR was finally available, and I'm set with 22LR for a while. The wife needs ammo for her PDP with Holosun 507 with the Vulcan ACSS reticle so she can practice to be as good as me.

I had an M1 Carbine for many years. its neat to play with at the range, but thats all.

I took it to a minuteman course and it failed to perform as well as an AR-15. At that was at 75 yards & under.

I wish I had bought one when the CMP had them but missed out on that. Still hoping for a 1911 from them. Always meant to get one to sit next to the Garands and 03A3.

Probably what surprised me the most is how light and easy to handle it is.

well that was the whole point.
the army wanted a light efficient weapon for tank crews and artillery crews and other bastards not often found on the front lines.

I had one. People enjoyed bad mouthing them, but I didn't really buy into any of that. Absolutely a wonderful rifle for a collector.

If you like to shoot a lot, the ammo is not a real plus. I like to have guns that shoot cheap and readily available ammo which can be run through multiple guns.

I understand how ridiculous "cheap and readily available" sounds in today's world.

I was eyeing up either a Sig 365X or some type of 1911 9mm this weekend at the local sporting goods store. Ended up getting the wife a compound bow and accessories instead lol. The ammo was priced such that I looked at it and said "nah" I actually feel like I have enough for now. I saw some CCI Blazer 380 and I should have bought some even though I don't have one, just for the future or to resell to friends. It's hard to come by here lately.
