Yep, this. I've got two near me. One opened up recently. One was $25. Both are $30 right now. Kinda annoyed at the $5 increase. May just look for a sporting goods type store to buy it at.

Not gonna lie, i love the look of the black synthetic stock and stainless barrel. Unfortunately, those are kinda hard to find.

Arghhhhh...really shouldnt even be considering this right now. :/

It's too bad my local ace hardware doesnt ship out stuff, because they have had at least 3 of these in stock for $229 for at least a month now.

Picked up a used Springfield M21 with a Fulton Bolt added to it for $2k even (from a friend I know and trust), going to sell my Mk14 for $3k.

Huzzah.

Oh, it also had a new flash hider added to it with the bayonet lug on it by the friend, just to piss off CA.

Added a few new toys. I had previously picked up a SR-22, SKS, and a Benelli Nova.

My latest editions to the safe are a Kel Tec SU-16 .223/5.56

and

A Norinco M305 (clone of a M14)

Can't wait to get out weekend after next and put some rounds down range!

If it came with wood furniture, change it ASAP. I know I read that the wood used by Norinco and polytech is Chu wood that compresses too easily. If you can easily remove and put back the trigger pack, the stock is no good (same goes for the Garand, of course.) The only reason I can easily do it on my M21 is because it's glass bedded and has a metal liner around the receiver.

I've decided on some new goodies to enhance my S&W M&P15T...

http://www.amazon.com/Geissele-Super...words=Geissele

This has a MUCH better feel than the stock trigger, with a distinct 2-stage pull. I've already ordered this and should get it next week sometime.

For optics, I've decided to go this route:

http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA31F

With the red chevron reticle.

Good luck on the Trijicon optics. I've been waiting on my night sights since 3/7. Apparently they're really back logged.

FWIW, the Super V from Geissele (probably available from the VTAC site) is second only to a REALLY good bolt action trigger. Smoothest trigger I've ever felt on an AR15.

Jeez, you're talking totally out of my budget and knowledge range right now RA. :awe: Glad you got what you wanted, though.

So, all other things being equal, I should get a 10/22 with the longest barrel I can find, right?

Dunno about barrel length - but 22 is cheap. You can plink and not worry. With my M21 I can't plink so easily...Well, I can...it just costs the same for 1 762 round as it does for 50 22 rounds

You'll love that trigger, it is pretty much the perfect all around trigger for an AR. It's buttery smooth and light, but not to light. I've ran it for two years and absolutely love it. Every AR I have has to have one, it's that good.

That's regular price at the LGS depending on the version. Certainly not a bad price, just not a "deal".

Found a Ruger 10/22. The regular version is about $245 including tax ($229 without). Too much yay or nay?

Oh yeah, I've heard people say to get a Ruger 10/22 without the barrel band. Why? What's it even do?

It just looks nicer and there is probably a negligible accuracy improvement having a floated barrel . Barrels oscillate when fired , they need to be free to do so. But its mostly looks. I believe the original purpose was to alleviate torque stress between the receiver-stock mount but it's not really necessary, especially on modern versions.

Barrel oscillation is one reason why certain designs are inherently more accurate, or lend themselves to being accurized. AR for example when used with a floating hand guard, the only thing fixed to the barrel is a negligible mass free floating gas tube that is fixed only on one end so the barrel is free to oscillate naturally. Unlike designs like the AK or M1 that by design cannot have a free floated barrel. AR also has less reciprocating mass as well.
