I'm not so sure it's really a holster, more of a trigger guard cover. I wouldn't trust that shit. Looks (And by the description, it is) one step up from just sticking the gun in your pants.

From what I have seen, most holsters add some bulk to them ... looks pretty solid, reviews are great too, why are you knocking it so hard?

I have a hard time believing a trigger guard cover holster like that has adequate retention and keeps your firearm in place properly. I'm not necessarily knocking it, but my opinion at first glance is to not trust it (obviously if I had some personal experience with one I may be convinced otherwise). It's a one-draw holster, you have to remove it to re-holster and replace it in your pants (Probably not a big deal, but that makes drawing practice a little more cumbersome). It has no sweat guard nor does it protect any part of your firearm from wear.

I can see the appeal and advantages of a minimalist holster but I don't think that solution is a great one. My money's on a PJ holster for my XDS, but the order I placed the other day is at a 9 week wait.

Yet another purchase... friend was selling his practically new PSA AR for an incredible price. This is the last one for a while, I swear. D:

from left to right:

GSG MP-5 .22 LR clone
AK-47 variant
Mosin Nagant variant (guessing a M38, M44, or M59)
SKS
AR-15

Spot on Sir. My grandfater wated to get out and shoot a few of his rifles, I happily said yes. This is about half of what he owns rifle wise, pistols are another story. I dont know whats came over him these last few years he has more ammo than anyone i have ever seen.

I hear ya. I'll have a total of 4 loaded and ready to go.
I just have two. A handgun and a shotgun.
But in my safe my AR is loaded and I have 3 loaded mags next to it. Heck, even my Single Six is loaded with .22 mag and on the top shelf of the safe.

I can't believe I have as many guns as I do. It doesn't look or seem like that much when you look in the safe, and I even sold 2 of them! haha

I should clarify: All of mine are in the safe with loaded mags nearby; the shotgun has shells in the saddle, but is itself unloaded. Once I have it, I will be carrying the handgun in a holster while at home if the situation warrants (i.e. crazed meth addicts).

Just a shout-out to remoil spray... I use it on all of my firearms as both a cleaner and light oil.

Any new gun gets a thick coating of remoil, then soaks for a good week or so. I do use TW25B on slide rails, but that's it.

Last weekend we went canoeing and ended up taking a dunk in a fast moving river. My sig p238 was underwater for a good 20 minutes straight before having to wait about 8 hours until I could take it apart. And, it had been a good 3 months since it had any cleaning.

Now this sig is something I carry almost all the time so it has seen plenty of sweat, rain, dirt... But never a dunk in a river. I was fully prepared for it to have that light 'cleanable' coating of rust, but it was completely fine.

I did a full disassembly, sprayed everything thoroughly in remoil, let it sit in a 165f oven for about 5 minutes, did a normal lube and then fired 200rds with no problem at all.

I've read a good bit of negative remoil reviews... People claiming it doesn't protect as well, doesn't lube as well, and on and on. Well in my opinion it works great if used appropriated. I still use hoppes on a patch in the bore, and to clean any brass markings, but I use remoil for everything else and it seems to work great.

Guess I'll have to revive this thread!

Taken right after I purchased my AR. I have since added a strap and bipod to it. Stag Arms model 3, picked it up from Bud's gun shop for $804, transfer cost me $10. I got the EO Tech model 512 sight on sale, for ~$350 (ordered in January, got it in April ).

What would you go for if not a red dot?

I was toying with the idea of picking up an Eotech or an Aimpoint, since my AR is a flat-top and I'm getting bored of the flip-up iron sights. I think I'd like the Eotech reticle more, but it's hard to argue with the battery life and durability of an Aimpoint.

I wish I could justify shelling out $1k+ for an ACOG.

Honestly just depends on type of shooting being done. For my 223/556 i have been using just the iron sights (either a rear mbuis or a detachable carry handle with a front sight gas block) or for my 300blk i have been using a primary arms 1-4 scope.

The bit ive used of red dots, generally (and i have a couple, the eotech a vortex strikefire, a sig sauer one, and a Chinese cheapy one) ive really only enjoyed them in more of fun, quick target shooting over shooting for groups or anything like that. But recently I have been having more fun shooting either small object or shooting for groups. Id say right now Im 90% range shooting since i go with my dad mostly right now so putting a dot on a piece of paper isnt as fun to me as lining up a scope or using iron sights to see what size groups i can get.

But thats just me. And i do like using a red dot for fun in the woods....especially on my 10/22. But for range shooting they just dont have much appeal to me.

But like everything gun related its personal preference. I know plenty of guys hwo use their aimpoints/eo techs all the time on their guns (not just AR's mind you). That and application. For fast target acquisition they work amazingly well. For shooting groups...not so much

I prefer iron sites, I'm more accurate at distance. I only have an eotech for the home defense/tactical aspect of it.

But yes, i want a ACOG just don't see the need for it for what I want from the weapon. Maybe on a longer range AR build.
