Sorry for being a broken record...but...heavy? Doublestack 9mm? Easily-mastered trigger?

Jericho 941/Baby Eagle. All day. Have you shot any SA recently other than the Sig? The 226 family generally has very nice double action and a smooth single. But I can understand exactly how it might be a little hard to feel out- the it's a low effort pull, but what I notice is that the takeup kind of blends with the break. Lack of sudden changes in required effort = good, but the bang can be a little surprising.

A good CZ-style trigger has some amount of smooth takeup, that is very obviously 'takeup' and not actually pressure from the hammer/sear, followed by a short, crisp break. The CZ-75 design is very much to DA/SA 9mm's what the 1911 is SA .45's. Just a damn good execution, and a great platform for tweaking to your liking.

Also, it's hard to understand exactly how heavy the steel ones generally are until you've handled one. Polymer CZ compact = probably heavier than a G17. Alloy frame = definitely heavier. Steel full-size = holy shit this gun is made from depleted uranium.

Heheh, wouldn't depleted uranium be lead?

1. I own the regular, Pro and Core M&Ps, and I find the Pro and Core to be better looking with the extended slide.

2. Some guys figured out how to easily fix the M&P's trigger without having to replace:

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=898020&highlight=m&p

We're also on the 3rd iteration of the sear cam by now with those pistols. The first one was complete trash, and the only way to smooth it was to polish it and that meant you were compromising reliability by removing surface hardening.

Then the second problem was the firing pin safety detent wasn't really rounded very well and the trigger bar had a very noticeable step when it was moving it up and out of the way.

Hence why Apex released initially a cam sear and a better rounded firing pin block. Then S&W decided to finally work on the thing and started improving parts including the barrel (sigh).

But I also couldn't stand the hinged trigger at all. It felt like I was dealing with a 3 stage trigger. Too many moving parts for my tastes.

To be fair, I have no idea what 'depleted uranium' even means. Hollywood has simply taught me that it's OMG HEAVY. Which I'm sure it is.

To google we go...okay, so the confusing bit for me ('depleted') is only saying that there are LESS of a certain isotope. So it's not inert, it's just much less radioactive, I think.

...but it's still 68% heavier than lead.

yes its lost its radioactivity

well not completely

but enough that its 'safe to be around'

my dad works with it often

its WAY WAY heavier than lead. as said.

Safe to be around is also a bit of debate. It's still doing damage in the middle east from all of the rounds we used long after.

DU is only a weak alpha emitter - its radiation output is negligible. Also DU itself isn't really dangerous, but when it oxidizes (eg, at high temps while punching through armor) the uranium oxide that's created is highly toxic and contaminates battlefields.

So somebody school me on sig P230's...

I've been wanting to pick up a PPK or Makarov. Or clone. Saw a P230 and a P232 looking lonely. I handled the 230 and really liked it. I don't even mind the lack of a slide release or the baseplate mag release. Seemed fairly old. Stamped 9mm Kurz, German made. Some wear from carrying, but functionally beautiful. Asking 550.

kinda cool guns. Older "compact" in 380acp (9mm Kurz). Have some issues but nothing to major. The biggest gripe ive heard about is the beavertail can be misleading. The slide actually sits a bit lower than beavertail so if you have a high grip it could cause you issues. Other than that i dont know much. Its got an ok trigger. Long ass reset from what i remember. Fixed barrel too. Heavier than modern day compacts but meh its more for history IMo than carrying at this point anyways.

550 could be a decent deal depending on what all it comes with. 450ish seems to be the normal for just the gun plus 1 mag from what i have seen (and remember). if it has extra mags, original box/papers, ect it adds value

Merad is right on point

huge difference between it sitting around, and being shot through things.

It's always one of those misnomer physics jokes I remember hearing in class. All radioactive elements decay at their half life by losing atomic weight to a stable non radioactive element. Which is lead at the highest atomic stable proton count. But usually something called depleted uranium is *mostly* depleted and not fully when using the term.

I am going to be taking a handgun class and I need the following items that I don't have. Can you guys recommend some options for these? Gun is a Sig P226 9mm and I have an Aliengear IWB holster coming.

1. Gun belt
2. 1 Magazine pouch
3. Dual Magazine holder for a belt

Thanks!

I love my Galco belt. I have been wearing it every single day for 2 years straight and the only complaint I have is that it seems to be shrinking
http://www.amazon.com/Galco-SB3-38B-...galco+gun+belt

I have heard great things about the Uncle Mike's mag holder. I don't personally own one but I watched a bunch of youtube reviews on them. They seem to be the go to for mag pouchces.

For a belt I use one from thebeltman.net. the one I use is double bullhide with black shark stitched to the outside. I have had it for about 7 years and it has not stretched one bit. It is still as good as the day I bought it. They have a variety of styles, buckles, and exotic hides they can use. They also make dress belts that are tapered for when you may want to look more professional like wearing a suit and dress pants without a wide gun belt.

Everything they sell is made by hand, and they have some quick ship options in addition to their custom work which has a wait time of at least 30 days.

For mag pouches I like raven concealment's modular accessories. You can get single or double mag carriers and attach or remove them as needed. Maybe your holster maker can do a mag carrier for you as well.

What size belt did you get? Did you get the internal stiffener? I am debating between 1.25" and the 1.5". I wear suits a fair amount but I think I could get a 1.5" in the belt loops. Oh, did you order that Obenauf leather protector?

I have an Atlas Cobra Belt from Volund Gearworks that I love. Black buckle and main webbing with a FDE/desert tan strip. Look great and performs very well (high quality, tough, etc).

Last belt you'll ever need

Expensive yes, but it wont stretch, sag and it keeps your gun riding close to your body

So I'm wanting a P230 or P232 even more. But I'm not understanding their pricing.

New 232's list for like $800 or so. Maybe a little less for the most basic or more for stainless. I looked on Bud's and saw a bunch of nice used ones that have sold for 400-500 (but they don't have any at the moment). I also see 400-500, especially for the older P230, on Armslist around the country (little to nothing local). P232's, 600 tops. Talking nice stainless versions and everything.

But no one has new P232's. P230's seem outright rare. Both are like 700+ on Gunbroker.

Even if you cut out the old version and just look at P232's, it's like there's a high price, a low price, and nothing in the middle. I guess maybe I'll just have to keep checking Armslist until a reasonable one turns up locally. Will still put it in offer at the gun shop, but I doubt they'll like it.

Same thing when I was looking at 229s. One would be 600 and one 1300. No one could explain the difference.

What price do you want to be at? I'll see if I can find something.

You really should check out the sigforum as well. They're a good community and you might be able to find a dealer on there. Topgunsupply used to be big when I frequented the forum, but they're out of p232/230's right now.

I feel like we need to start a support group. I've been spending way too much lately. Just ordered an Aimpoint T1 with a daniel defense mount today. Combined with the 11 boxes of federal ss109 (those 120 round mini plastic cases) being delivered yesterday, the case (1k) of wolf gold last week with smatterings of various accessories like plate carriers from SKD, raptor charging handles and ambi safeties from battle arms, some new ar15 uppers and random other parts, my CC needs to go into hibernation mode for a while to recover.
