Mosins are fun, I have over a dozen of them I believe. If you get one PLEASE don't modify it. If you have a craving for a "sniper rifle" just get a Rem 700

Kick is manageable, accuracy is good, and ammo price is pretty decent for right now. Semi-Autos don't give me the satisfaction of a range day with a bolt action.

I generally consider .556/.223 to be a pussy round...especially in ARs. There is absolutely no recoil, just an obnoxiously (because people put brakes on them) loud bang.

Want to dislocate your shoulder? Try a Maverick 88 with slug rounds :awe:

May I ask where you get/got your Mosins? I've seen old surplus sales before, but it seems like a total random grab-bag as to the quality you might receive. Though, they WERE dirt cheap.

So I went to a gun show today.

Kel-tec Sub2000 2nd Gen for Glock mag was $555 plus sale tax or almost $600 OTD. Nice gun but too much for a $500 MSRP gun. The 2nd Gen gun is a lot nicer than G1, the handguard and front sign are a lot better looking.

Glock 17 and 19 G4 for $530 plus sale tax or about $570 OTD.

Any of you use this? AR15 folding stock adapter. Saw it at the show and it was neat and the price was $289 plus sale tax.

I think it is for easier to transport the AR but you can not fire the gun with the stock folded.

Yesterday I saw a lightly used XDs 45 for a mere 400 dollars. Came with a nice big case and 4 magazines, a paddle holster, and a double mag holster.

I haven't bought any in over a year, but I got them from gunbroker, jgsales, century, AIM Surplus, SOG, and gun shows.

Now a days you're pretty limited on where you can get them, much more than in the past.

I've seen a bunch of those kinds of adapters. For me the question is where are you transporting your AR that you need to change it's profile? I've never had an issue transporting my AR in it's case (the closest I've had is transporting via plane and had to get a locked TSA approved case.) so I'm not sure the gain from these things.. unless you're trying to save space?

Ok... considering doing a 9mm SBR with a suppressor. Mostly for fun but could double as home defense (if I don't reach for the shotgun, AR, m&p 9mm, etc.).

My first love is and always will be the MP5. An MP5k would be ideal, but the design is old and the guns are very expensive if you can find them. Clones of varying reliability are anywhere from $2500 - $5000. I've also read about issues running different grain weights. That said, it's an MP5 and probably wins the coolness contest.

Intriguing and much less pricey is the CZ Scorpion evo. I like everything I read about it subject to a few quirks, and the starting price is in the $700 - $800 range. Obviously. Lot cheaper and more modern, but no nostalgia wow factor.

MPX looks too much like an AR. Kriss Vector doesn't really do it for me. Kel Tec sub 2000 don't like the look. Not really sure what else is out there.

What say you ATOT?

I think the UMP9 is the only one you missed, and that's probably harder to find than the MP5.

The thing I like about the CZ Scorpion is that it's very similar in appearance to the G36C, which I wouldn't mind having one.

The SUB2000 is a proper "rifle" (i.e. 16") not an SBR. But if that kind of thing is up for consideration, there's also the Cx4 Storm.

So how much money/effort are you willing to put into it? Sticking to the HK family, a ump/usk/9mm conversion is cool but then that gets towards the mp5 price range.

UMP doesn't really do it for me same way the mp5 does. I've read up on the conversion process and while it is a cool gun, I think I prefer the mp5 (full disclosure, I have a Umar umarex mp5 in .22 that is a lot of fun to plink with).

Depending on whether we make an offer on a house in a week or so, I either have cash burning a hole in my pocket or can afford a rock and rubber band.

Kel Tec Sub2000 G2 is not bad looking at all. The hand guard looks and feels a lot better and the front sight is more stable/made with better material.

You can do some upgrades like this = http://blog.cheaperthandirt.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/customized_sub2000_9598web.jpg

I want one but I am not willing to pay over $600 for a $500 MSRP gun.

"Rescinding reciprocity agreements is one of 28 strategies outlined last week in a report co-authored by Parsons on ways states can fight gun crime."

This logic befuddles me.. not recognizing permits to carry fights crime?

Yep because the anti gun nutjobs think that criminals generally are law abiding citizens and as soon as they aren't permitted to carry a gun, they'll stop doing so.

My puppies got another C&R rifle this week, they seem to like it.

Awesome! Is that some sort of Mauser?

I'm a dumbass for getting the C&R paperwork, then leaving it sit on my table for months half filled out, then finally throwing it away when I moved this fall. I just saw like last week on I think Impact Guns they had Yugo Mausers for a decent price, eligible to ship to C&R license holders. ARGH.

M1916 Spanish Mauser converted to .308/7.62 Nato and used as a training rifle.

Haven't shot it yet, cleaned the crap out of it as the stock was full of dirt and grime (plain paper towels do wonders). It's supposed to have pretty hefty recoil, but I don't know as 8mm is pretty bad itself.

Having rifles shipped straight to your home is awesome

Very nice.

I have an oddball C&R like that. A Finnish M28/76 target rifle with diopter sights. It is 7,62x54R but uses .308 projectiles (I confirmed by slugging the bore). A happy coincidence for a reloader like me as I have much nicer selection of projectiles to use. Though the rimmed case is still an annoyance.

Really? I thought those were 7.62x53R most of the time? Some had the 54R, but I believe that was a little less common.

Sounds like you have a definite odd duck.
