Shooting gun is pretty awesome. I've tried some before and i recommend you to hunt or do the flying plate cracking shooting.
I've never been flying plate cracking shooting, but I would like to. Friend of mine shoots clays and keeps inviting me, but haven't had the chance.

If anyone needs a bolt action rifle for hunting season Kentucky Gun Works is having a nice sale on the Thompson/Center Compass rifle in a bunch of calibers. Guns and Ammo named it the 2016 rifle of the year. $197.83 with free shipping after a $75 T/C mail-in rebate. You can get it matched with a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 scope for another $86. I've ordered from them before and they have pretty good service.

Also, a bit lower down on the link you will see Taurus is currently offering a $40 rebate that is pushing down the price of their 85FS 5-shot .38 special +p snubbie revolvers as low as $169 AR with free shipping.

I've got to head out to the range and get my Savage .308 zeroed in. It's two years old and I've only shot two rounds through it. I finally did a trigger job on it to lighten it a bit. Hopefully I will put a deer in the freezer this fall.

I have been doing a lot of load development for a new .300 win mag I picked up recently. Trying to narrow down an accurate load with a 200g Barnes long range x bullet with h1000 powder. So far the best is looking like .1 grains under max, at 77g.

Just in case you folks are interested, looks like Cabelas has PPU .223 and 5.56 for 5.99 a box right now. Free shipping code 97FREE if the order is $99 or more.

Cabelas also has Savage bolt rifles in several calibers for $319.xx with a $100 mail in visa card offer. Looks like they have .22-250, .223, .308, 6.5 creedmoor, and .204 Ruger.

Hopefully some of you all can get in on some good cheap ammo or some affordable rifles.

I live less than a mile from a Cabela's and need some 5.56, maybe I'll drive over first thing tomorrow.

I don't know how long they run the sales for but it's only been on sale for a couple of days so I would think you should be fine. I ended up getting some online myself.

Oh billy. Picked it up yesterday after a total wait time of just over 15 months (ordered from Silencer Shop on June 26, 2016). The process through Silencer Shop, and the FFL I had it shipped to, was all super easy and I'd definitely use both again. I got a fixed barrel adapter on the way so I can at least test it out with my 22/45 Lite.

I still need to get a threaded 1911 barrel for my Springfield Range Officer (shouldn't be hard) as well as one for my .40 S&W P226 (good luck). I'd really like to trade the .40 for a 9mm but I don't know how to go about doing that. The local Cabela's wasn't interested in any .40 cals and the guy said people were trying to get rid of them (great).

Then for my ARs, both rifle and pistol, I need to decide attachment methods still. I guess I'll go with the HATE Ring and 51T MAAD Mount and get 51T muzzle devices for the .223 and 300 BLK guns. Kind of a pain and a little expensive (thankfully the suppressor was a good price) but man, I really want to be able to quick detach the can between firearms.

If you are looking for a tiny compact 10-shot 9mm pistol the SCCY CPX-2 is on sale for $159.99 w/free shipping at Combat Armory. I've never fired the gun, but it felt good in my hands at the local gun shop. The grip and gun was pretty narrow so it should conceal easily, and 9mm is better than a .380.

I have all the parts coming for an AR10 rifle build, which should be fun. I also sent innmy order packet for a CMP service grade M1 yesterday as well. Looking forward to tinkering with both, though I will have to wait on the AR10 until after elk season, I think the parts are going to arrive when I’m gone.

I'm still trying to figure out my AR10 build. Fairly certain my barrel's headspace isn't right if I'm using the gauges properly. No amount of fiddling with my adjustable gas block and changing buffer weights/springs has fixed my FTE issues.

Wow, the CMP is still selling Service Grade rifles? I thought they'd be sold out long before now. Even when I was looking at CMP rifles back in like early 2011 they seemed to becoming more and more scare. I ended up picking up a Field Grade (minor wear but overall looks pretty great IMO) Garand in early 2011 some time directly from the CMP North Ohio store since I was car shopping in the area. It was like $525 and for the price, by FAR the best firearms purchase I've made. It's really in pretty good condition and is one gun that I do not ever intend on parting with. Hope yours is just as enjoyable!

Any clue how it compares to the Beretta Nano? I have one of those that I carry, and while it's a great gun for concealment, it's a bit of a bastard to get used to shooting.

Yeah, I thought they were long gone too, and a friend pointed out to me they were back, only service grades. He got one of them last month, a Springfield made in September of ‘43. I am looking forward to seeing mine show up.

I've shot the SCCY CPX-1 but not the 2. The one I shot has a pretty long trigger pull. Maybe not quite as long as a Kel-tec but pretty long with quite a bit of slack before it breaks. For the money, not a bad pistol if you're willing to get past or get used to the long trigger pull.

Those are pretty similar guns, but do have some distinct differences. Here is one of the many articles out comparing the two: http://dailycaller.com/2016/05/06/gun-test-beretta-nano-vs-sccy-cpx-2/

Personally, if I already had the Nano I would stick with it because you really aren't going to find a compact 9mm that is a dream to shoot. Put enough rounds through it to feel comfortable with it and take the recoil as a trade off for the ease of carry.

Or if you have the money you could pick up the SCCY and see how you like it. You could probably resell it locally for as much or more than it's on sale for if you end up not liking it.

How the heck does anyone become 'comfortable' shooting something much smaller than one's hand? I'd be afraid the moment I went to grip the fucker it would flip around and shoot me. Mind you it is all personal in terms of to each their own, but I can never get comfortable handling anything not a full frame handjob. LOL

Ditto. Was at the range and the guy next to me let me squeeze off a few rounds from his CPX-1. The pull was super long and felt "off". You might be able to get used to it, but I was pretty sure I wouldn't like it. But, if you can, it's a great value for a tiny gun. Use the savings on the gun and buy more ammo to get used to the ergonomics and trigger.

Comfortable is a relative term. To me it means shooting your carry gun enough that you are convinced of it's reliability, accuracy and can operate it intuitively in an emergency. If you've got big hands then maybe you need a slightly larger gun. The only thing that really matters is that you feel the gun fits your needs, and that you are mentally prepared and vigilant enough to make sure you are responsible and do no harm with your firearm.

I carry a Taurus PT-111 Millennium G2 9mm which is a bit bigger and heavier than the Nano or SCCY. I fits like a dream in my hand and I enjoy shooting it. It has a wider double stack, 12-round magazine and an aggressively textured grip that I think helps a bunch. When I held the SCCY is felt lighter, skinny as heck and that would take me bit to get used to. In comparison, when I last shot a Beretta 92FS the grip felt a little large in my hand. Maybe I have manlet hands or it's just from shooting mostly single action revolvers with slim grips.

Taurus fan here.

The PT-111 G2 9mm is a great firearm with a really good grip. I agree completely.

I hear you on the 92FS grip. I personally like the Taurus 92 much better (safety position on frame is superior, and it can be carried cocked and locked), but it is still a large grip. However, I cannot argue with 18+1 rounds of 9mm, flush fit.

I dont know either but I ordered 2 of the SCCY CPX-2`s to give them a try and see just how good $160 pistols are... I normally just shoot .45 cal pistols but to conceal carry they are way to big... But I too have large hands so dunno on this one...

Will let all know when I get them and go to the range...
