one other question about the AR magazines, do you guys leave them fully loaded all the time (over a period of years)? I saw some stuff where people were debating the merits of this (mainly the springs degrading over time was the main point of discussion I think)...

My understanding is that repeated compressing and decompressing is where the wear comes from. I leave my home defense magazines loaded all the time.

Cycling supersonic reliably now. I don't think it'll do subsonic without changing the buffer or using a suppressor; won't know for sure until some go on sale.

I am looking at getting an M2010 (ESR) that my neighbor is selling, took it out to the range for some long shots and it was a lot of fun.

I got my wife’s hunting rifle back from the Smith last week and he did a great job. Her rifle was just too big for her hobbit size. Had six inches taken off of the barrel and a brake added, and about an inch taken off of the stock to get the length of pull set to about 12.5”. Also had a recoil absorbing pad put on the stock, and got the trigger worked on so it breaks clean at around 3lbs.

Hopefully she will use it in a few weeks to take a mule deer, and for elk in November (really excited for that one because we drew hair tags).

Do we have a tactical knife thread? I picked up a couple of S&W spring assist folding models from Amazon over the past few weeks. They’re not high end but I’m still impressed. Before that I had a few nice hunting and regular folding knives from a long time ago.

I think there might be another knife edc thread but I cannot remember. Last year I took a tour of the Chris Reeve Knives factory in Boise and ordered several on the spot, and that was the last time i have bought any decent knives. This is my current lineup -

My favorites are obviously the Chris Reeve Nyala, Pacific, and Umnumzaan but that rare Zero Tolerance bayonet at the top holds a special place with me. The white microtech combat troodon stormtrooper edition in the Center is my current daily carry.

Spent some time with my oldest kiddo today doing some shooting, commonly using some of our common use rifles, mostly testing some handloads for 300blk I was working up. Decided on a production load for both supersonic rounds for my 16” Rifle, using 110g vmax bullets, and a subsonic loaf for my 8.5” pistol, using 208g amax bullets.

Subsonic groups, powder is CFE BLK using small rifle magnum primers, 2.260” OAL.

Supersonic loads, also using CFE BLK powder and small rifle magnum primers, 2.050” OAL.

Going with the 11.8g charge for the subs and the max load, 23.7g for the super load (which I will probably use for mule deer in a couple of weeks).

I also brought along my Ruger precision rimfire and did some ammo testing, as you can see mine REALLY likes wolf match ammo.

Since I haven’t posted in a while, though i did not shoot this today, I did add a granulate grip and a spike onto my shockwave, because of reasons.

I normally don't like the American Flag being incorporated into products, but this just strikes me as way cool. Kinda like I'd love to own one, but would be worried about the looks I'd get at the range. Any thoughts?

I like it "Paladin3" for sure very patriotic looking and I think others at the range would agree...?

I love me an M14/M1A but I don't care for the American Flag/paintjob on that one. If someone had one at the range I wouldn't say anything, other than maybe complement them on the gun.

He doesn't exactly slam it down, but I'm willing to bet it's not a live round. And the point he's making is very good advice everyone who carries should hear.
