Just to make sure I understand you right, do you mean that if you see a possibility of having something serious with a guy then you would rather go for coffee with him?

Depends on the girl and circumstances. On a Friday night and she doesn't have homework? Party (then again not all girls are partiers). On a Sunday afternoon? Probably coffee.

Way too many variables to just boil it down to party or coffee.

edit:

exception to this rule is if it is a party where you are like the guest of honor. If you walk into a party and you are the center of attention and everyone knows you and wants to talk to you and your the ****** man then its all good. Your date will feel special just for being the girl you decided to bring.

Coffee shop... I like the chill environments of coffee shops. I am a very mellow guy and big parties are not where I feel all that comfortable.

Plus, you get to know the girl better if you can just sit around and talk to her.

For what it's worth, my girl would choose coffee over a party 100% of the time, regardless of circumstances.

Summary: it depends A LOT on the girl's personality.

It somewhat depends on the girls personality, but coffee. With the party there is to much going on, to much out of your control. With coffee you can focus full attention on the task at hand (her) and it'll be easier to react accordingly without the distractions.
