Dude, you should do it when it feels right. You don't want to hold her hand until a situation comes up. For example, (might be lame) you're crossing the street with her and there is a lot of traffic, then the light turns and you're caught in the middle of it, so you grab her hand and wisk her to safety!

Or, you might touch her hand during dinner but you would do something subtle, like, oh nice nails, can I see them closer?

Generally, keep things subtle. Use the deacon effect as a guide. Act as if you don't really like her and be yourself.

There is a European style village 20 minutes away from my house, it has several classy restaurant and coffee shops with many little stores that sell unique items (candles, paper, light...anything) It also has a small river and a large pond. Does that make a good place to take her out? I can have lunch with her, chat, walk beside the river/pond, and then have coffee/tea in late afternoon before I drive her home?

Hey, I know a lot of people like that. It happens. Some eventually will break out of their shell. It's more a lack-of-confidence issue than anything else.

as for the reason why i went through HS w/o a date, that is because i've been only in Canadian high school for 2 years and the girls are absolutely horrid..i rather, worse than ebola

Some general tips for you:

1. if you wear glasses, take it off and switch to contacts
2. Get a haircut
3. Absolutely no bad breath (use mouth wash if you do)
4. Make sure your nails are clean. girls do pay attention to your hands
5. aviod sports sneakers or clothes when going on date. Casual style is better.
5. Have a plan ready when you ask her out (ie, location and activity)
