I'm actually thinking of picking up a P22 for this purpose. I love the way the gun feels, plus I want to pick up a P99 to go with it.
i had a chance to get a new p22 for $279.
then read the reviews about it being picky about ammo.
Conflicting reports about which $20/case bullets @ walmart works.
some say Federal 550 (white box)/Remington 525 work fine, others say these sometimes jam.
The only consistency is
1) Winchester 333 hi velocity rounds @ walmart jams often.
2) cci works great. but they are EXPENSIVE compared to the Federal/Reminton ammo bricks
For .22's I prefer revolvers. They gobble up any ammo and are pretty reliable. Ruger Single Six, Ruger bearcat, or if you can find them a SA/DA Ruger SP 101 in .22.
Listen to this man. 22's not reliable to begin with not to mention different loadings which may not extract properly. Revolver when it fails you just pull trigger again.
There is only 2 kinds of 22s I'd own lever action or revolver.
haven't had any problems with my Browning Buckmark, Savage bolt action, my 1911 conversion, Ruger Single Six, Ruger 10/22 (using factory or other quality mags), or my Henry Golden Boy and Federal bulk .22 ammo.

yeah I know, but i just like the feel of the p22 and the p99. my cousin works at a gun shop here in southern california so he can help it out with ammo.
off topic i know, but in CA when you buy ammo do you have to give your license? how restrictive is it?
