Why do girls always need you to call them and become upset when you don't?

Not only do they need to be called frequently, they get mad when the conversation has died down, it's 30 minutes later, you're both sitting there silent on the phone and you ask if you can let them go.

Guys are completely fine talking to each other once a week on the phone, we rarely call just to talk, and when we do call it's like wanna do it out tonight? Alright, be over at 10.

If I don't hear from you for one day or you don't call, I really don't care...

If that were the case texts or talking to them on IM would be fine...

But it never is..

If you don't, due to boredom, they'll just go back to their playful naked pillowfights with their also bored naked female roommates.

But they need to hear your voice and your emotions and to have your focus on them. Text and IM's are not enough. Trust me, i'd rather talk to my girl on MSN rather than call her but you have to do what you have to do to make your significant other happy. Compromise.

Speak for yourself I hardly ever call friends just to talk. A matter of fact I never do. I really just use my cellphone to make arrangements, and not conversations. On the other hand I dont have very many friends either :-(

I compromise plenty...we're on the phone at least 35-40 minutes a night, the last 10-15 is me waiting for her to fall asleep because I'm talking to myself. I can't hangup because then i'm the asshole...so I just kind of sit there and hope she falls asleep quickly so I can get up and do stuff. It's great talking to her when she's awake and actually talking...

If you get bored talking on the phone with her, that's a pretty sure sign it's over. You should just move on. You may think it's worth trying to salvage the relationship, but it's not.

There's plenty of other fish in the sea. Just go out with the guys and have a good time, forget all about her.

Tell her how you feel then. If it bothers you to talk to her that long you need to let her know in a kind manner or all that frustration will build up until you finally blow up.

Same here. I point to the Family Guy episode, "I Am Peter, Hear Me Roar" as an example of why male-male just-to-chat phone calls are silly

You know, I never really have this problem. I call her about half the time, she calls me about half the time. We've never run out of things to talk about.

Girls do this. It's an attention thing. Just tell her you're tired or have something else to do and it will stop. Then get off the phone and don't let her keep going on.

Well, anyone I see on a regular basis I don't ever call just to chat. But my best friend who lives in another state I call once every 1-2 weeks just to say hi.

they are very needy, even low maintenance ones always want you calling just so they know you are thinking about them.

My friend Melissa calls me all the time. As a matter of fact, I rarely call her unless I have a specific question and NEVER just to chat.
