Either way, lying in a relationship is NOT good. You should talk to her about why she felt the need to lie to you and see what the problem is.

Usually when a party in a relationship feels the need to lie, it has to do with a trust issue or cheating.

My ex-wife lied to me all the time. That is why she is my ex-wife.

She told me she was going to school on Saturday and then stopped by Fair Oaks Mall to buy an outfit. I was thinking OK no big deal, right?
Well she came over and showed me the outfit and the receipt popped out of her bag and it said she bought it from Tysons Mall. I found this out now because I was cleaning my room and I found the receipt on the floor.

I knew her ass wasn't studying on a Saturday.

Gotta get to the root of the problem. Dont accuse her of anything...never works. And NEVER admit to looking at receipts etc, unless you want to get into the "you don't trust me" arguement. Do you guys live together? If so, just be observant.

Cuz honestly, this really is NOT a big deal. Women do like to browse and shop around. if she only told you where she was going to go BEFORE she left...then she probably didn't find what she liked in the first store and decided to expand her shopping expedition without reporting in.

Never assume she is lying. There could be a perfectly good explanation for a lady's action.

10-20 minutes depending on traffic. If she went to Tysons Mall it means she didn't go to the library to study.

Her entire reason for going to Fair Oaks was to get a job application and after she did that she told me she quickly picked out an outfit. When she called me she was supposedly in her car at the "Fair Oaks" parking garage coming to meet me.

Girls do not just quickly pick out an outfit. Not her at least.

My Theory:
She knew I was at home waiting for her to come. She called me on the way here and asked if she could study first and she'd call me when she was done. She said it wouldn't take long. It took 3-4 hours total for a Chemistry lab report. Making me wait for her call would guarantee I wouldn't go far away from my home. Therefore she would feel secure with whoever else she was with knowing I wouldn't be at the malls.

Of course I'm tired and I couldn't be totally wrong.

I never actually said to assume anyone is cheating. However, if one party in the relationship feels the need to lie, it is not a good thing. At any rate, there are no such things as "white lies." If someone is willing to lie to you about small things, then always look for big things too. She may have not even thought about the fact that she went to another mall....just be observant.

edited to add: Do you know (or does she know) anyone in proximity to Tysons mall? Sister, mother, etc?

Its close to VDay and maybe theres some special store to get something for you at the other mall. Honestly though as a girl I had to try and defend her .. but, I think you're in trouble, lil white lies before holidays are okay .. but I have a feeling its a larger isssue.
