Don't mind them, that's just google keeping track of everything you do.

gmail spam filter is 10x better than the yahoo one. I still like the yahoo interface though

Yahoo really screwed up their whole website by trying to AJAX it up. I would be surprised if their e-mail is any better. I'll stick with gmail.

I do that....AND use it with gmail. Google Apps FTW.

Do you have it set up that the address forwards to GMail? Problem is that it still says "on the behalf of xxx@gmail.com" for me...

* interface is alot more sleek

I used to live by gmail but ever since the other companies (e.g. yahoo) let you search your mailbox, gmail has slowly lost its shine.

Use tags. Same as folders in Gmail.
Use google.com/ig for a configurable homepage with whatever news/weather you want PLUS your gmail account.

So y7mail is just another email domain by yahoo using their typical yahoo.com service in an attempt to bypass current spam filtering? I use @yahoo.com, @gmail.com and @hotmail.com all the same.

labels are virtually identical to folders. But you lose the hierarchy, which usually is a killer for folder users.

homepage of google has weather and news too, what's you're point?

yahoo is cooler, but you said you have a y7mail account.. that looks like a hack.

interface is slow and bloated IMO. I like the simple gmail interface. yahoo's ad ridden slow ajax is what killed it for me. But even so, gmail's interface isn't for everyone.

And yes, gmail's contact method of adding everyone is utterly retarded.

Own domain+google for your domain ftw =P I don't use it though because everything is already tied to my gmail account.. namely maps (addresses in there) and google checkout (won't let me move a credit card to another account) and reader, iGoogle... etc.

gmail does POP forwarding, you have to pay for Yahoo to do it. gmail>yahoo.

I'm not sure how you can say gmail hasn't added any features in over a year, that's just blatantly false. Tags are far superior to folders anyway - it's just a newer way of doing things so people 'locked' into folders don't like it.

Well...actually since there's not been a good way to migrate all my existing Gmail messages (pre-google apps) I do have my google apps account forwarding to my regular gmail account. So I do get that in the header.

However, if I were just using google apps then I don't think that would happen. It's a proper domain control, complete with custom user accounts, etc...

True, alot of people use gmail and it does look more professional. However, it is near impossible to get firstname.lastname@gmail.com. I just secured my firstname.lastname@y7mail.com. If anyone's interested in doing so and has a not so usual name, then grab a y7mail account before they run out.

i have firstnamelastname@gmail.com

b/c I'm awesome that way (notice, no dot )

, perhaps you haven't really looked very hard into gmail because that feature has been there if not since the beginning but at least for months.

call me crazy (you wouldn't be the first), but I'm pretty sure I've been searching my gmail mailbox for at least 4 years now.

I'm FN.LN@gmail too. Gotta get in early for that. And for StudMuffin, that was taken.

Interestingly, I receive emails to my gmail account even if the . in my username is omitted.

Yahoo spam filter not as good as gmail's. Plus the new yahoo mail take too long to load.

Yeah, Google Apps mail comes without the "on behalf of" junk (unless you configure your Google Apps email to send from a different email address - e.g. "XX@hotmail.com on behalf of XX@palswim.net" for my domain).

I was wondering why the OP kept typing y7mail instead of yahoo and looked it up, it appears to be a new branding for Australia. au.yahoo.com/y7mail works, but www.yahoo.com/y7mail does not.
